Let's Play Mega Man 7 - Part 4: Junk in the Trunk
I should have uploaded this so long ago...anyway, it's time for Junk Man's stage, which takes place in an abandoned factory of sorts, and an oddly colorful one at that. The main new enemy that will be a thorn in your side is the cockroaches; they have a habit of being right in the way and hard to hit. Fortunately, they're only in this stage. Junk Man's stage also has a branching path at one point. The top path is the default, and it has a place with some platforms that seem to be fixed in position, but when you shoot a Thunder Bolt at a certain machine, they will start moving, and you can obtain the Rush Jet, which was previously blocked by one of the platforms. There's also another machine that can be powered up, which will allow you to take a bit of a shortcut. The bottom path requires the Freeze Cracker; you must use it once to freeze a stream of molten metal and allow you to access the path in the first place and again once you get down there to access the other item in this stage (the "S" icon). From there, you have to use dropping pieces of junk to get across more molten metal, then mostly just standard enemies until the paths meet up. Once they do meet up, you have giant caterpillars in junk to deal with (unless you take the shortcut on the top path) as well as junk falling on to platforms with propellers, then some more basic enemies until you reach the boss door. Junk Man is a big gray brute who is mostly fairly easy once you get used to him, but he has a few attacks that can catch you off guard. He starts out by jumping and shaking the floor, causing you to get stuck in the junk if you're on the ground when he lands and making junk fall from the ceiling. He then pulls junk toward him with a magnet into a large block, throws the block at you, jumps into the air, lands on the other side, and crushes it. Then comes his most annoying attack...the Junk Shield, which he aims at you and can easily trap you in if you don't dodge it. (At least he only ever has time to do this twice at the most if you just keep pelting him enough....) He then jumps back and forth across the screen and tosses pieces of junk at you, which is a good time to hit him. Then the whole cycle of attacks repeats. Once you finish him off, you get the Junk Shield. Yes, it's a barrier-type weapon, but for once, it's actually a pretty decent one. It surrounds you with...well, hunks of junk, which can do damage to enemies and are destroyed when they sustain too much damage. You can also fire them off by pressing Y again after activating it, but I've never found much use for that function of it.
