We now come to what serves as the game's water stage, Burst Man's. It's kind of weird...I think it's supposed to take place in an abandoned medical laboratory or something, but apparently said laboratory also got flooded, because most of the stage has you going through bubbling yellow or purple...liquid. Okay, given that we're in a laboratory, and laboratories tend to contain all sorts of chemicals, is it really water? It certainly acts like water, as far as Mega Man is concerned; it makes him jump higher when he's in it and acts as a breeding ground for death spikes. The water level also goes up and down in the second half of the stage (once it turns purple). There are no items here aside from the "R" icon, but with that, we have all four icons, which give us a new powerup...that I completely forgot to show off. Oh well, I'll do it later. This stage also has a midboss (a crab that shoots bubbles and pink blasts at you) as well as Mega Man 7's set of appearing/disappearing blocks (although there is another set in one of the fortress stages). Then we have Burst Man himself, who resides in a room with walls and floors made of bubbles and a ceiling covered in spikes (go figure). He likes to shoot lots of bubbles at you, and if that sounds like an easy boss...not necessarily. He shoots two different kinds of bubbles, orange ones that bounce you backward and blue ones that contain bombs and can trap you inside them. (If you get caught by one of the latter, button-mash like crazy before you get hauled up into the spikes lining the ceiling of the boss room.) He can also make bubbles come up from the floor, which you want to slide off to prevent running into the spikes, but he doesn't get much of a chance to use that attack the way I fight him. Probably the best way to deal with him is to use fully-charged Mega Buster shots, which knock him backward (and make him drop several bombs, which you have to jump when they explode). If you don't knock him back, he'll jump toward you, and if he does that, you have less room to dodge his most dangerous attack, the bombs in bubbles. You can actually bounce off the walls to fling yourself over him, but that should never be necessary if you can keep him pinned in a corner. It's definitely not one of the more fun boss fights in this game, though...it's actually kind of tedious. The bubbles block your shots, and you have to be really careful about dodging the bomb-filled bubbles or you'll get caught and possibly subsequently spiked. If you do beat him, though, you too can shoot those bubbles with bombs in them that were such a pain during the battle. This is the Danger Wrap, which has fairly limited uses but isn't a terrible weapon like certain ones I could name.

With that, we've completed the first set of Robot Masters, but it's not time to move on to the second just yet...
