This is it! We're at the final level (aside from the secret ones. Maybe now we can finally find out what Cortex is up to! The last crystal of Crash Bandicoot 2 is located in level 25, Spaced Out, another space station level. Like level 24, it's more or less just a more difficult version of the first level of its theme, although we do have at least one new game mechanic in play. There is a second clear gem, but it's on a gem pathway, and I won't be getting that until later. Once we collect our twenty-fifth and final crystal, we get a message from Cortex...and from Coco, telling Crash what that evil scientist really has in mind! So instead of giving him the crystals, we must take him down in a boss battle. The final boss of Crash 2 is actually kind of underwhelming, to be honest...Crash and Cortex are bothh wearing jetpacks, and you have to chase him through an asteroid field and attack him three times before he reaches the end. The hit detection seems kind of weird, but it isn't all that hard once you get the hang of it. The obstacles don't damage you, but they do slow you down, and enough delays will cause Cortex to escape. After defeating him, he shouts out a last threat, and then it's time to relax on the beach...or so it seems. As Coco says, Cortex may be defeated, but his mechanical monstrosity the Cortex Vortex is still fully intact, and from a gameplay perspective, we still have the two secret levels to go through and more gems to collect. So is this really the end?...
