Okay, before we get into the main part of the description...yes, it is Friday the 13th. Perfect day to start a new LP! Or something...I've never been at all a superstitious person, Friday the 13th is no different from any other day, and to be perfectly honest, I find it pretty dumb that number 13 is sometimes skipped in things like building floors and rooms. Or 4, or 17, or whatever number is considered unlucky where you are...I don't care if it's a homophone for "get eaten alive from the inside out by the minions of Satan", you don't just skip over a number because you don't like it!

But I digress. What I really wanted to mention was, now that all of the E3 presentations are over, I can say my feelings about E3 as a whole. And overall, I found it pretty lame. Microsoft's game selection was as awful as ever (have they EVER made a game I care about?), Sony's wasn't a lot better (with exactly one game that I would have wanted), and Nintendo...well, they had by far the best of anyone, but that does not by any means imply that theirs was amazing. I will admit that they showed off a decent variety of games and game styles, new and old, which I hope will gain the Wii U some popularity, but...as far as games that I personally would want to play go, nothing really jumped out at me as being something that I'd definitely want to get. About the only two things that did look pretty interesting were Yoshi's Woolly World and Mario Maker. We haven't had a good Yoshi game in ages (heck, I would argue the only "good" one was the 1995 original), Yoshi's New Island didn't fill that gap by a long shot, and while I'm not holding my breath, this one looks like it actually could be pretty decent. And I know I already have Lunar Magic for editing Mario levels, but you know, as long as they expand the available options from what was shown at E3 (Mario Maker won't release until 2015, so they have plenty of time), an official Nintendo-sanctioned level editor actually could be pretty great. Hey, at least with that, I wouldn't have to deal with drunken monkey code or FuSoYaCode(tm). I was saying months ago that was no chance in heck of Nintendo topping 2013's E3 (with Super Mario 3D World and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze) this year, short of a miracle, and, well, I called that one a mile away.

In any case, enough about unrelated stuff...how about this game! Mega Man X3 is nothing hugely unique; if you've played X2, you've pretty much played X3, but it is still a pretty good game overall, and there actually are a few unique things it does that I quite like. It's not my favorite game in the series, but it is actually my brother's favorite. I remember spending time together trying to figure out the best way to beat the bosses and whatnot... Anyway, in this game, we have a new villain, Dr. Doppler, who was apparently supposed to lead a utopian society (no prizes for guessing how well *those* always turn out in Mega Man games) and instead turned evil, and the bad guys are attacking the Maverick Hunter base. So we must go through and...well, without spoiling too much, you actually get to play as Zero in this game, the only time Zero gets a full-motion 16-bit sprite. The stage itself is pretty mundane, just introducing some new enemies, and the boss is a pretty typical Mega Man X intro stage boss: large and pathetically easy (though if nothing else, this one actually is pretty hard to beat without taking damage). After that, naturally, we have the 8 Maverick stages ahead of us, which I will start on next time. So, as we begin a new quest of robots and lasers, weapons and wickedness, I will see you then!
