Yes, all of the ice levels for an indeterminate period of time will have a Frozen reference somewhere. Shut up. In any case, we are now starting on the actual Maverick stages. I actually have a fairly specific order for taking on the Mavericks in MMX3, though it's not by weakness order. Mega Man X3 has quite a number of items to find in the 8 main stages, and most of them require a certain special weapon or another item. My order, therefore, tends to be more based on the items than the special weapons. It's not the most efficient one possible, but it works. We start things off with Blizzard Buffalo, as most people probably do. (What is it about ice bosses that makes them always so easy and so likely to be the first one taken on?) He resides in the ice stage, of course, though the only things that really qualify as slippery are the slopes, which are pretty well impossible to go up even if you're dash-jumping. My main reason for doing this stage first is that you can get two items right away, a Sub-Tank and the leg armor. The latter gives you the ability to air-dash, as it did in X2, but this time around, you can also air-dash straight up, which is pretty useful. (I'm pretty sure X6 was the only other game where you could air-dash up....)

Blizzard Buffalo himself is pretty easy, even without taking advantage of a huge A.I. exploit (that I might or might not have to show off later; I wasn't the one who discovered it). His boss room is extra-wide, and he spends most of his time charging at the wall on the opposite side. He can also throw out three ice projectiles, which is the hardest attack to dodge but still not that bad. He also, when his health gets down a bit, can shoot a large ice laser (why are you crying, Mr. Physicist?), but he telegraphs that one a mile away. Pretty much, stay on the walls where you can dash-jump over his charge and entirely avoid his laser, unless you hear his ice projectiles, in which case drop to the ground to destroy them. And by the way, if you're playing this on a real SNES or with a controller, I would recommend not charging your shots; being able to dash-jump is more important than taking his health out faster. Upon defeat, Blizzard Buffalo gives us the Frost Shield, which in my opinion is one of the most useless weapons in the entire series. The ice spike it shoots out is slow, weak, and not durable, as are the ice spikes that it can form on the ground if bounced off a wall and the spiky shield you get by charging it. I guess it's half-decent against bosses that are actually weak to it, but eh...not exactly a weapon I'd have much use for even if I were using special weapons...

And with that, we've started on the main 8 stages. Join me next time as we continue our quest!

P.S.: The weakness order in this game, if you care to know ahead of time, is Blizzard Buffalo, Toxic Seahorse, Tunnel Rhino, Volt Catfish, Crush Crawfish, Neon Tiger, Gravity Beetle, Blast Hornet.

P.P.S.: In case you were wondering, I didn't really have time to upload anything yesterday. Sorry.
