Let's Play Mega Man X4 - Part 1: A Disturbance in the Repliforce
Happy Easter, everyone! It's time to start another game. This is Mega Man X4, the first of the 32-bit Mega Man X games and easily the best-designed. It has some pretty decent bosses, levels, music, weapons...I don't have too much to complain about with this game (except, *spoilers*, how annoying the final boss is to fight...and, I guess, how unmemorable the fortress stages are in general). We start off in some sort of floating city, it crashes to the ground, and we find out that apparently the main military force seems to have been incriminated for the attack. Unfortunately for them, their leader is proud to the point of idiocy and would rather see his entire army considered criminals than come in for questioning. Military intelligence at its finest right here... After that comes the boss of the stage, who put in an appearance in its first section and doesn't really seem to be related to anything in particular. It's a gigantic dragon that spits balls of energy at the player. The stage itself is nothing too difficult; after all, it is the intro stage, though it might be slightly harder than the ones in MMX1-3. There are various enemy robot warriors, claws that shoot at the player, and attack wasps. I should also mention that this is the first game where you can actually play as Zero, not just for a little while, but all the way through. Of course, I still play as X, both for the sake of tradition and because playing as Zero tends to make this game harder than it needs to be.
