Let's Play Might and Magic 7! Part 20 - Goodbye, Archibald
2It has occurred to me that I have neglected to advance Lester's Body Building skill beyond just investing SP into it, raising it to 10. As such, I decide to leave the current mission and go get him up to Grandmaster. Along the way I get distracted by the fact that Stone City has respawned and so the Troglodytes need to be cleared again and I am afforded the chance to clean out the Dwarven Treasury... this is sub-optimal as they are incredibly poor compared to me. On the plus side, all of the barrels came back!
Back to The Pit to check for Dark Magic and get the Altar Piece from Temple of Dark. This place is friendly to me. Not that it matters. I'mma kill 'em all, anyways. I was encouraged to do that, so why not? It's all Clerics of the Moon and Vampires in here. Not too much treasure to pick up, but a few barrels that are worth it. It was all for fun, of course!
Dark Temple done, we head out to Castle Gloaming to find Archibald is still here and can still teach Karl Grandmaster Dark Magic. A quick Town Portal to get out of the castle quick and I go to turn in the Altar Pieces. First I run into Dark Shade's residence and find that he's informed us that they've located all the parts of Clanker and have reanimated him to research Soul Jars. I miss the text, though, and it changes the next time I go in.
With this last quest turned in, Tolberti now has a quest for us to kill his Light Side counterpart called Robert the Wise. He also tells us Archibald left and Kastore is in charge, now.
Back out to Deyja where I hunt down the teacher for Master Body Building. Lester is over 800 HP, now. Also cleared out the Harpies that live around Watchtower 6. A quick Town Portal to Nighon allows me to get Grandmaster Body Building for Lester... bringing him to 989 HP. This man is so... beefy.
Being in Nighon reminds me that I haven't finished clearing Nighon of Hydras. I'm also paranoid about this because the game encountered a really weird bug the last time I decided I wanted to clear out the Hydras. Fortunately, nothing of the sort happened, so I was able to start the culling... there are LOTS of Fire Hydras with fewer Air Hydras and yet fewer Chaos Hydras to clear from this map. In the process of attacking the ones in the northern desert, Lushiris just started shooting like mad; many shots in a row without any interruption. I think something went weird with the recovery calculation...
I get tired of killing Hydras and go for a little tour of that desert before deciding to just go finish clearing The Maze. I nearly forget to cast Protection from Magic until I encounter a Minotaur Lord. Being up close to one of them made me remember that I do have Shrapmetal, and it's at Grandmaster level. This proves quite lethal to anything getting in our business.
Having cleaned up The Maze, I Town Portal back to Erathia to clean out my inventory of all the crap I picked up from the Hydras and Minotaurs. A round of enchanting those items that I can, then sell it all! As it's Sunday I take a small boat ride to Evenmorn to get Grandmaster Learning for Lester. Surprisingly, this place has NOT respawned, so no need to clear it back out yet again. I mistakenly say that Lester's current experience bonus is 84%, which actually is wrong. The +5 bonus applies after the multiplier from mastery, thus it's 10x5 = 50% + 5 bonus = 55% + 9 starting bonus = 64% experience bonus.
Quick note that I mention not training in Nighon until level 200, but training in The Pit is a pain because nothing there opens before 6 PM, so I'm probably going to do all the rest of my training in Nighon for the rest of the game.
