Let's Play Mirror's Edge: Catalyst | Episode 14: Prisoner X | Hacking KSEC servers | Dogen's Lead
Welcome back to Mirror's Edge: Catalyst, a reboot of 2008's Mirror's Edge with improved graphics, refined gameplay, and a completely original story. The tale follows Faith, a Runner in Glass, Cascadia, a fictional country in a fantasy world where a communist government got overtaken by private corporations. After a stint in Kreuger's Juvenile home for a period of three months and finding herself in debt to Dogen, a local crime boss, Faith is finally released and must work off her debt as soon as possible. On a high-paying job, she finds herself tailing an OMNISTAT spy and steals something valuable from him. This device could be her salvation or her unmaking. The game primarily focuses on Parkour even though it has fighting and combat every now and then. It is a first person 3D platformer.
Faith takes up Dogen's advice and confronts Isabel Kreuger about the fact that the people from Noah's cabal might still be alive. While initially reluctant to help Faith, she spills the beans on where Faith might find that kind of information once Faith promises to get Isabel out if her information checks out.
Happy with the news, Faith immediately enlists Plastic's help to break into the KSEC servers. But to do that, she first needs to head over a new part of the city, Reggata Bay. Once she ran a long way to get to that part of the city, Plastic told her to get to a certain point and once she was there, she would call in a KSEC VTOL to give Faith a "lift." In all actuality, Faith had to use her MAGROPE to latch onto the VTOL herself. But when the VTOL actually arrived, it had trouble reading the coordinates sent to them and Faith had to chase them down a significant way while they kept flying and hovering over the bay. Once they finally stopped, Faith latched on to them and pulled herself up to the vehicle's legs. The plan was to get off when the aircraft would land on a helipad. However, they got diverted to a construction site and Faith had to jump off when she found the opportunity and hoof it the rest of the way.
She infiltrated KSEC through a vent and followed the service and maintenance area to reach the central servers. The entire area was made to be maintained by machines and remain independent of human intervention. As a result, Faith had to resort to a lot of acrobatics and manoeuvring to reach the access panel. Once there, she only had a few seconds to pull all the data that was required before KSEC was alerted of the intrusion. She managed to grab all information on Noah and Isabel Kreuger before peeling away.
The plan then was to use the service elevator to reach the Shuttle station and grab a train. However, the only train at the station left as soon as Faith arrived, leaving her to fend off the KSEC forces congregating at her location while she waited for the next train to show up as a means of passing time. When the train arrived, she took it without hesitation and rode it all the way Downtown.
Once there, Plastic had finished decrypting the files to find out that Noah was being held somewhere called 'Kingdom.' Alas there was no more information about it. Faith decides to go ask Dogen about it while Plastic decrypts the data on Isabel.
