[Mage] Daggerfall Unity [16] | Becoming Adept | Order of Arkay | Desecrated Temple | Cursed Weapon
Welcome back to The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, a role-playing game originally made by Bethesda for the MS Dos. For this playthrough, we are using the Unity remake of the game and a lot of mods to enhance the experience. The game involves navigating the sensitive political landscape of the Illiac Bay, a region of Tamriel on the fictional planet of Nirn comprising of the countries within the bay as well as the various fragmented powers surrounding it on both High Rock and Hammerfell. We have been sent to the place on a mission by our Emperor Uriel Septim VII to investigate two curious instances, the shade of King Lysandus that roams the streets of Daggerfall at night and a letter that he sent to the Queen of Daggerfall a few years ago that never reached her. Despite being a dungeon crawler at heart, Daggerfall places a lot of emphasis upon the player's individual exploration as choosing one among the various political factions in the region as they navigate the complex mess that is the Illiac Bay. In this playthrough, we will be playing as a Spellcaster and will shift our focus towards the Mages' Guild and the Order of Arkay.
Having become tired of appeasing the people at the Mages' Guild to no avail, Strangeblood returns to the Order of Arkay in the Ilessan Hills to tackle yet another quest of great importance, the discovery of the other half of magic in potions and soul gems that the Mages' Guild so choosen to ignore.
In his services rendered to the Order for his own learning, he is first offered a quest that is quite specific to Strangeblood's own temple. Apparently, a temple called 'The Shrine of Maelululla" has been desecrated since a lycanthrope has started inhabiting it. Strangeblood's task is simple. Find the poor, lost soul and slay him, hence restoring honour to the temple.
Stangeblood set out on his way to The Shrine of Maelululla and was greeted by a host of sorceres upon his entrance. Taking care of the enemies, he turned his attention towards the real task at hand, the lycanthrope. He used a potion of seeking after touring through quite a bit of the temple and wading through a denizens of mummies when he finally found the Wereboar inside a ceremonial chamber with five fires. Whoever brought him here must have intended to perform some kind of a ceremony for the beast, holy or unholy.
This, unfortunately, is one of those mysteries that are bound to remain a mystery as Strangeblood slew the beast and teleported back to his temple for his priase and reward. His next quest came by way of the delivery of a cursed weapon. Nothing more was told to him of it, except that he was to deliver it to a contact within the 'Ruins of Masterwing Manor.'
Strangeblood started touring the ruins of the former manor as usual when he noticed the presence of a lot of Orsimer. The orcs seemed to be looking for something. Finally, upon a chance encounter with one of them, an Orc Seargent, it was revealed to Strangeblood that the dagger that he carries is actually a powerful, evil artifact wanted by the deformed people of Orsinium. Strangeblood refused to yeild it over and slew the Orsimer of slightly greater importance. He then opted to travel further into the dungeon to look for his contact, who he found safely nestled away in what was almost a corner of the place.
She took the knife from Strangeblood, not bothering to explain its significance to him, and told her that she would guard it there where it was apparently safe, despite all the orcs there searching for it.
He then returned to The Order of Arkay to recieve a well-deserved promotion to the rank of Adept, which in turn gave him access to the vast libraries of the temple and all the knowledge of its lore.
