[Mage] Daggerfall Unity [14] | The Beast | Curing Lycanthropy | Tristore Laboratory | Isle of Betony
Welcome back to The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, a role-playing game originally made by Bethesda for the MS Dos. For this playthrough, we are using the Unity remake of the game and a lot of mods to enhance the experience. The game involves navigating the sensitive political landscape of the Illiac Bay, a region of Tamriel on the fictional planet of Nirn comprising of the countries within the bay as well as the various fragmented powers surrounding it on both High Rock and Hammerfell. We have been sent to the place on a mission by our Emperor Uriel Septim VII to investigate two curious instances, the shade of King Lysandus that roams the streets of Daggerfall at night and a letter that he sent to the Queen of Daggerfall a few years ago that never reached her. Despite being a dungeon crawler at heart, Daggerfall places a lot of emphasis upon the player's individual exploration as choosing one among the various political factions in the region as they navigate the complex mess that is the Illiac Bay. In this playthrough, we will be playing as a Spellcaster and will shift our focus towards the Mages' Guild and the Order of Arkay.
Following Princess Morgiah's advice, Strangeblood travelled over to the Court of Daggerfall in the very heart of the Daggerfall Province, hunting for more information about the fate of the Emperor's letters. His clairvoyance led him to the maid, Cyndassa, who was busy preparing a feast for his Majesty, King Gothryd. Upon asking her about the fate of the letter, she promised to help Strangeblood but only under the very specific condition that he help her out first. She wanted him to travel to the Tristore Laboratory in the Isle of Betony and eliminate a certain warewolf.
Thinking it to be an odd request, Strangeblood accepted nonetheless, even though he suspected there to be more to this matter than meets the eye. He headed over to the abandoned laboratory which was now an abode for spellcasters of all sorts and following his clairvoyance, found a diary entry written by some kind of a man who knew about Cyndassa. Apparently, this man had broken up with her best friend and in an act of vengance, she had paid some Shapeshifters to take care of him. Strangeblood soon found a second diary entry written by the same man. Apparently, he has no memory of how he got here and the only thing that he remembers is the sight of the full moon.
With the complete picture in front of him, Strangeblood decides to track down his former lover and find a way to cure this man. As a result, he travels back to Gallowick in the province of Daggerfall, and hunts his lover, Chrystolda Ashsly down. She informs him of both the fact that Cyndassa had infected him with the blood of two lupines, and the fact that she has the information that we seek regarding the Emperor's Letter. She then asked us to escort her back to where we found the Warewolf.
We head back to Tristore Laboratory with her and formulate a plan to split up. Strangeblood was distract the warewolf while she cast a spell on him to paralyse him. Upon completion, she told Strangeblood all about the letter and how Cyndassa had delivered it to Queen Aubk-i when the latter realised that it was actually addressed to the Queen Mother Mynisera instead. Aubk-i had promised to deliver the letter to the Dowager Queen but conclusively, she never did. If anybody know about the letter, it must be the Redguard Queen, but Strangeblood is going to have to tread extremely cautiously in order to get the information out of her.
However, to return to the matter at hand, Chrystolda had only one further request. She wanted Strangeblood to escort her to a Witches' coven in Daggerfall known only as The Coven on the Bluff where her former lover might be cured. She needed this of Strangeblood since she needed to focus on the spell that kept her lover paralysed until they reached the coven.
