Let's Play Mirror's Edge: Catalyst | Episode 9: Fly Trap | Finding Icarus | KSEC Attack | Escape
Welcome back to Mirror's Edge: Catalyst, a reboot of 2008's Mirror's Edge with improved graphics, refined gameplay, and a completely original story. The tale follows Faith, a Runner in Glass, Cascadia, a fictional country in a fantasy world where a comunist government got overtaken by private corporations. After a stint in Kreuger's Juvenile home for a period of three months and finding herself in debt to Dogen, a local crime boss, Faith is finally released and must work off her debt as soon as possible. On a high-paying job, she finds herself tailing an OMNISTAT spy and steals something valuable from him. This device could be her salvation or her unmaking. The game primarily focuses on Parkour even though it has fighting and combat ever now and then. It is a first person 3D platformer.
As soon as Faith could come back to Downtown, Noah told her that Icarus, one of the runners in his cabal, has disappeared off-grid and off-beat and that Noah is concerned for him. He sends her to Icarus's last known location and asks her to find him.
When Faith arrives there, she can find his signal faint and quickly traces it to an electrified cage that he has somehow found himself trapped within. He asks her to set him free as a favour.
Faith manoeuvres around the building, following the wires leading to the generator until she finds herself on the streets with heavy KSEC patrols approaching. They don't seem to be after her though, so she assumes that they're mostly there as a precautionary measure after the recent bombing in Shimmering Heights. Faith soon finds the generator and turns it off.
But that's when it happens. Noah calls Faith in a hurry and informs her of the KSEC attack on their cabal. Without wasting any time, Faith and Icarus make a mad dash to their hideout, wading through hordes of VTOLS and drones.
When they finally arrive, they find everyone within dead to their surprise and dismay. She sees a VTOL taking off outside and multiple KSEC securing the perimeter, so she makes the decision to grab one of them and start asking questions.
She goes in for the fight and defeats multiple teams of Enforcers and Protectors before she finally comes face to face with a Sentinel. She makes light work of this former adversary that gave her trouble as well.
Icarus then manages to grab one of them and they question him. He begins spilling the beans when more reinforcements arrive, forcing Icarus and Faith to split and find shelter while things mellow down.
Faith begins running with VTOLS and drones hot on her trail, not daring to stop until she finally loses them and heads straight into another one of the minor runner hideouts on the rooftops of Glass City, Cascadia.
