Let's Play Mirror's Edge: Catalyst | Episode 13: Top of the World | An Ear to the Ground | Payback
Welcome back to Mirror's Edge: Catalyst, a reboot of 2008's Mirror's Edge with improved graphics, refined gameplay, and a completely original story. The tale follows Faith, a Runner in Glass, Cascadia, a fictional country in a fantasy world where a comunist government got overtaken by private corporations. After a stint in Kreuger's Juvenile home for a period of three months and finding herself in debt to Dogen, a local crime boss, Faith is finally released and must work off her debt as soon as possible. On a high-paying job, she finds herself tailing an OMNISTAT spy and steals something valuable from him. This device could be her salvation or her unmaking. The game primarily focuses on Parkour even though it has fighting and combat ever now and then. It is a first person 3D platformer.
After Faith managed to successfully capture Isabel Kreuger, Gabriel Kreuger's own daughter, she got contacted by Nomad and they had a brief chat where it was disclosed that they had built a comms antenna right on top of Noah's Lair. Wasting no time in the process, Faith set right out to find and destroy it. But before she could set out on her journey, Plastic asked her to collect some fragments of the MetaGrid for her. Since she was right there and it was a small task, she decided to collect all the MetaGrid leaks first.
Following that, she headed straight for the tower that had desecrated the remnants of her once beautiful home. As she neared the place, she found the area patrolled by KSEC guards and the tower proper defended by not only sentry turrets but also KreugerSec elements. She had to first wade through the combatants to disable the turrets and take out the remaining security elements in place before destroying the tower. Once that was done, KSEC had been alerted to her presence and she had to run to safety.
With that out of the way, Dogen contacted Faith, telling her the news about the raid on Noah's cabal and his death had been greatly exaggerated by the media and that he was still alive, but held captive by KreugerSec. She knew just the person to ask about it.
But before that, she still had a GridNode to take down in the Rezoning district. It was a long, confusing, and dangerous climb but she managed to successfully disable the CCU, functionally rendering the thing useless.
She then talked to Rebecca Thane concerning a mission to get in her good graces. Faith was then told to climb on top of the tallest tower in Glass City so that she could place a tap there and enable Rebecca to eavesdrop on all KreugerSec conversations taking place in the city. Faith had a long climb ahead of her full of Rebecca's voice and ideology in her ear till she made it to the top. However, somebody had seen a runner in the vicinity and notified KSEC about it. So by the time that Faith was done placing the tap, KSEC was already at the scene and she had to make a hasty escape without losing any time. She decided to take the easier way down by using an elevator instead.
