Let's Play New Super Mario Bros. - Part 14: The Cliffs of Capricious Climates
We now come to World 6, the mountain/cliff-themed world. At least, that's what it's considered to be...while there are still more mountain stages than anything else, this world has the interesting property of containing almost every regular level theme in the game; I think the only ones it's missing are grassland and themes specific to World 8 (though I guess it also doesn't have a standard athletic/sky level if you don't count a couple of the others as being so). But hey, I'm not complaining...it does keep things interesting. In any case, 6-1 introduces us to some of the things we can expect to find here, such as narrow ledges that cause Mario's movement abilities to be reduced. The turning Bullet Bill shooters don't show up in the other stages, though. 6-2 is...a beach level?! Yes it is, for whatever reason. Its gimmick is that the water level changes, rising or falling to a certain height every so often. It also makes the Spinies that litter the stage float. The tower level focuses on the large slamming spikes again, though they are sideways this time. Just take this one cautiously and watch how the spikes move and you should be fine. 6-3 is set in the forest, or at least mostly in the forest (a few sections are underground). It's kind of a weird level, too...it has lots of pipes and Piranha Plants, at least two stage elements that don't show up in any other level, and a Moneybag to chase. And despite the midway point being less than half the distance through the stage, the second half takes almost no time compared to the first. It is an interesting beast.
