Let's Play Wolfenstein: The New Order [Part 31] - London Monitor
Boss fight gameplay from Woflenstein: The New Order, but only after we shoot down a helicopter and kill some Nazis! Also, I find new and uninteresting ways to be incompetent at this game. Well, it's single player so it's not like you need to be skilled.
So the boss fight that I mentioned is the London Monitor which is, as you might expect from Wolfenstein: The New Order, a giant robot. But unlike every other giant robot we have battled so far, the London Monitor is neither humanoid or caninoid (dog-like?). Instead, it's kind of like a 3-legged spider robot that fires lasers and missiles and has a regenerating machine gun turrets. When we defeat the beast, we get to watch a cutscene and unlock that next segment of the story. Now, it takes me quite a while to get a hang on the gameplay, because as I said, I'm not the greatest Wolfenstein The New Order player of all time. I'm only in this for the thrilling writing, deep characters, and unparalleled narrative.
Back to the London Monitor boss fight. The basic gameplay in this boss fight is divided into two stages. You have to use the Laserkraftwerk to shoot it in the laser when it's charging its laser. The area around Blazkowicz glows red and stuff whenever this is happening to give the player a visual indicator because whenever the London Monitor is not firing or charging its laser (or the rockets, which we'll get to in a minute), it will be shooting machine gun turrets that regenerate even after you destroy them. So anyway, shooting the laser while it's charging causes the London Monitor to stop the laser attack, but also begin a rocket flurry attack. You have to shoot the rockets after the turret pods open up, but before they fire. The first one shot will blow up immediately, but subsequent turret pods will require multiple shots to destroy. All of this is done using the Laserkraftwerk gun, which can be charged at the charging stations towards the entrances of the tunnels underneath the boss fight area. The tunnels can also be used as cover from the machine gun turrets.
One all of the London Monitor's rocket pods have been destroyed, interrupting its laser attack will cause it to open up at the bottom (right below it), allowing you to shoot at its engine. Shooting the engine requires Blazkowicz to be right below the London Monitor, so it's better to be near it when it's charging its laser so that you can sprint right blew it in time to shoot at the engine and get away without being torn to pieces by the machine gun turrets. After a few hits on the engine, the London Monitor boss will go down, and you'll be treated to a cutscene and be able to progress in the storyline.
Well even though this is a Let's Play of Wolfenstein The New Order, and not really a walkthrough, I think I did a really good job explaining how to beat this boss. So if you're looking for a walk through and you decided to watcha Let's Play instead of going to gamefaqs or something, then I hope that helps.
