Look Outside - How To Get Roaches To Join Your Party And Unlock The Vermin Achievement!
8In order to get Roaches to join your party and unlock the achievement, you will have to start having roaches live in your apartment, and you must also be nice to them throughout the game.
As you are exploring the game, you will find roaches roaming around in some rooms. When you walk up to them, they will jump on you and become part of your inventory. You can tell you have one on you because you will start getting alerts like "You feel itchy" while walking around. Take it/them to your apartment and they will leave your inventory and start living in your apartment.
Once roaches are starting to stay at your house, you will see them appear in the rooms. At first they are skittish and don't trust you, running away if you get close. To help build trust, quickly go to them and interact with them. If you got them before they ran away, you can choose to kill it or not. Choose NOT to, and instead, pet them. This is a good way to start building trust.
Another GREAT way to build trust is to cook food, and instead of eating it, leave it out all day. This will cause the food to become rotten, and if you go to bed after it has been out all day, the roaches will have eaten it. Do NOT interact with the food when it is rotten! This will cause you to automatically throw it away.
Continue doing these two things, and every day you wake up, a roach with a note should be in the main room of your apartment. Walk up to it, and it will give it to you. These will be thank you letters from the roaches for taking care of them, and eventually, they will say they want to help you. After you get this note, keep checking the bathroom, and you will see a figure in a trench coat in there. Talk to the figure, who turns out to be Roaches, and if you say they can join, they will, becoming a party member, and unlocking the achievement!
As a side note, this only took me 3 days in-game. The first day that I brought a roach back, I walked between rooms a few times petting them when I saw them, and left food out. After waking up, I had a roach with a note in the main room. The next day, there were quite a few more, so I did the same thing. Walked around petting them a bit, left food out, went to bed. Woke up to the second roach with a note. Did the same thing again on the third day, and again, roach with a note. After going to bed and waking up after I received the third note, I checked my bathroom, and Roaches was there!
