It Has My Face - Kill Your Clone Before It Kills YOU! Full Playthrough Of The Demo
It Has My Face is a horror/roguelike game coming out on Steam at some point (there is no release date yet). It is being developed by NightByte Games, and published by Behaviour Interactive Inc. You can find the Demo on Steam right now at: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2538290/It_Has_My_Face_Demo/
In It Has My Face, you play as a person that is being hunted by their clone. You have a mirror that allows you to see what your character looks like each round (since you constantly change appearance), and you must hunt down your doppelganger and kill it before it can do the same to you.
There are a few weapons included in the demo. So far, I was able to use a knife, a gun and dynamite. You start each round with no weapon, and must locate a briefcase containing one, which will have a random weapon in it. You can also use a lever to drop a stack of girders, potentially crushing your clone (IF you can time it right, unlike me lol).
As you play, you unlock Mutators, which changes up how your rounds play out. I unlocked Hit Man, which caused a killer to constantly chase me in the rounds during my run. Speaking of the Hit Man, I do have to say that it is super easy to confuse its pathing. If you go out on the ledges of the areas where the levers are (upstairs), you can cause them to stay on the other side of the fences where they can't reach you. See 16:00 for an example of this.
Getting killed by your clone causes you to lose your progress towards the next chapter, BUT, you gets bonus points towards unlocking the next chapter until you have reached your previous score. Basically, it becomes easier and easier it seems to unlock the next chapter, even if you aren't doing too well. Also, there seems to be a Relaxed Mode that doesn't penalize you by taking your progress when you die.
One other mechanic that I saw during my time playing was I guess panic? I don't know exactly what triggers it, but every now and then on some rounds, the screen would get a pinkish/purplish vignette around the edge of the screen, and all of the NPCs walking around would look like the clone for a while. This gets a bit stressful, but a pretty cool mechanic since it causes you to panic a bit since you don't know if you are safe or not!
After finishing the first chapter, I was taken to a HUB of sorts, where it seems like you get to unlock weapons and such (they were locked for the Demo). This also seems to be the place where you learn the story, as well as some other interesting things by exploring the HUB and interacting with stuff. We learn that the MC may be the only chance of survival for the human race, so there is definitely some lore to the game.
It Has My Face seems like it can be a fun game on launch, especially if you like games like this. I haven't really played many games like it (I think the closest thing to it would be the multiplayer gameplay of an Assassin's Creed game), but I thought it was pretty interesting, and I like a bit of chaos in my games! Check it out if it interests you!
