Making my First 3D Platformer Game in UE4 | Devlog #14 - GameDev
Devlog #14 - Building a very simple 3D Platformer Game
This video documents my progress using Unreal Engine 4 to build a platformer of sorts. I started by whiteboxing the level and establishing an experimental blueprint for each platform you stand on. Turns out, you can use a blueprint to automatically change the material or color of an object!
This will come in handy when I use the platform itself to switch on other platforms at random and indicate them by their change in color. All you need to do is stand on it. No more switches! So typing it out is sometimes the easiest way to know if a blueprint can do something or not.
The next update will (hopefully) show a completed version of this game that you guys can play! The expectation is for me to move on to the next tutorial as this is a very interesting but very small challenge.
My videos are inspired by the Youtubers such as Dani, Make Games with Katie, Code Bullet, and Sebastian Lague. If you don't know who they are, I highly recommend checking them out!
