Max Payne 3 - future data skip in Chapter 1-4
7Indeed, future data appears to prematurely load the next big event the game is expecting to happen level progression-wise. Can't say I've ever seen a glitch like this in a video game. Also, exploring this glitch gives an interesting insight regarding the loading triggers of Max Payne 3.
To correct some faulty info from the previous video. Future data turns out to be a very flexible trick. You can buffer it at any skippable cutscene, and it remains buffered in the background for as long as you don't Pause when the next big event is loaded (this uses up the future data buffer) or quit the game. This means you can even "restart level" to take future data to the very beginning of a level.
You can start future data during the elevator ride downstairs at the end of Chapter 1-3. You hit a loading trigger after having killed all but one of the downstairs enemies, so future data starts working at that point. However, activating it instantly afterwards gives you a non-useful result where you get stuck at the end, so you have to wait a little, so you might as well go and shoot the last thug as well to get a decent frame of timing.
Done correctly, Max skips physically running to the parking hall and can also kill an enemy or two during the unskippable cutscene where he enters covering position at the start of Checkpoint 5. So that should save a little bit of time.
Sometimes Max falls through the floor instead of being able to aim at enemies, but he spawns back in bounds soon after. Eh, I'll make separate videos of non-useful / crazy results of future time around the levels too, some time later.
