Time to introduce yet another destructive glitch technique in Max Payne 3.

---

How to do this glitch: the glitch is setup at 0:05 in the video.

Whenever there is a skippable cutscene, you have to Pause and skip the cutscene with a precise timing so that the game opens cinematic Pause-menu at the same time as the cutscene skip fade-out begins. It's not too hard to do once you get the timing right. Just got to make sure that you're not too fast, or else you tend to open regular Pause-menu instead of cinematic Pause-menu.

Also, once you do get it, make sure to unpause before the fade-out is complete, or else you'll do a variation of this glitch that almost always crashes the game... and you don't want that.

Afterwards, gameplay seems to continue like normal, but you have buffered the "future data" exploit in the background. Pausing after having hit the next important loading trigger causes the game to skip ahead to it prematurely, even as far as the next Checkpoint. Or more precisely, the game combines the current set piece and whatever is supposed to be coming up next, with numerous crazy results around the game.

So, to get to the details of this specific use of future data. In Chapter 2-5, start future data as you walk through the doors to the Chinese restaurant. Then use the future data (i.e. Pause the game) after having walked deep enough into the restaurant. This activates the Chapter 2-6 end cutscene, which all of a sudden cuts into Chapter 2-7 when Max is inside the helicopter. Unfortunately he is busy with cutscene motions at the moment and is unable to save Giovanna, and you can't retry either since it's cutscene time. You have to get a game over somehow to retry and return things to normal... Either wait a bit for Giovanna to get shot, or start Last Man Standing before skipping ahead to this Checkpoint.

The take I used for this video uses Last Man Standing, and it is little faster than just waiting for a game over. While you can shoot during LMS even during cutscenes, I couldn't manage to kill any of the thugs on the landing strip. It's as if there was some wall blocking the shots at the moment.

I expect this is only the first in a series of new skips...
