First off on our list is the map Poison, and I want to start off by saying that this is a horror map meaning it is a bit scary, and there are some gruesome elements. It is still Minecraft, but I wanted to start off with that. Poison is, however, one of the most in-depth and interesting custom Minecraft maps I’ve ever seen. Thousands of hours had to go into this map. Most importantly though the story of this map is actually really creepy for a Minecraft map. You will actually stay on the edge of your seat and be watching for the next scare the entire time you are playing this map.
Second, our list is SkyBlock Ultimate. SkyBlock Ultimate is the best SkyBlock map for 1.16.5. It starts you on a normal SkyBlock style island and has you process by completing challenges and quests. These quests are linked to advancements that push you through the map. Overall, this SkyBlock map features 20 different islands that you can unlock as you progress through the game by completing the quests and advancements. For a custom map in vanilla Minecraft, this SkyBlock map is very impressive and will keep you playing for hours and hours.
Next up on our list is Confusing Cubes 2. Confusing Cubes 2 is a puzzle map that has tons of different solutions depending on the puzzle you are playing. There are 15 different puzzle cubes to solve all with their own solutions making it hard to predict what to do next. One cool thing is that a lot of the puzzles have NPCs that interact with you and help you solve the puzzle and honestly tell a story. If you love puzzle maps, this map is the one for you!
Fourth in our list of the best Minecraft maps in 1.16.5 is Terracraft. As far as survival maps go, Terracraft is one of the coolest and most unique ones out there. It takes Terraria and brings it to Minecraft basically allowing you to play Terraria in the first person. You are in a 2 block wide area that you have to mine, build, survive, and explore.
