MiSTer FPGA - Chip's Challenge / Atari Lynx
Finally I'm able to try the original version of Chip's Challenge, after only having played the DOS port previously. In this video I take on the first 20 levels of the game. These are the easy ones, as the game ramps up in difficulty considerably later on, with puzzles requiring both logic and precise execution to proceed. Give this one a try if you're looking for a simple, unique and addictive puzzle game.
This version looks, sounds and plays excellently. It's nice to be able to experience the game on a consumer CRT for the first time also, with the Lynx core's great 240p output mode.
Chip's Challenge was a launch title for the Atari Lynx. The game was made in a matter of months, from a team led by Chuck Sommerville. It was ported to a number of other platforms, including DOS, Amiga and C64, was re-released on Steam in 2015, and has also gotten a new sequel on Steam. Check those releases out if you want to support the original developer, and try a new challenge:

The Atari Lynx core was created by FPGAzumspass, who joined the project in late 2019 with his excellent GBA core for MiSTer, and has since-then made considerable improvements to the 486, Gameboy and NES cores, including savestate integration.

None of this would be possible without the constant hard work of Sorgelig. It cannot be overstated how much he has done and continues to do for this project, since its beginning. You can support him either at his Patreon in the link below, or on Paypal, depending on your preference. MiSTer is a paradigm shift in how we can experience these classic games. This is a long-term preservation project that will continue to grow so that gamers today and in the future can experience these excellent systems as accurately and lag-free as possible. Donating what you can will help keep the updates coming. Thank you.
