MiSTer FPGA - Ninja Golf / Atari 7800
MiSTer's Atari 7800 core just dropped, and I've been going through the library and looking for decent games. One standout is Ninja Golf, a very unique and charming game. Guessing they had to call this one "Hero Golf" in Europe so the children could stay safe.
All jokes aside, the game plays like a simple game of golf- hit the button when the cursor lines up to where you want to go. This is where any similarities to golf end though. As you work your way to the location of the ball, you will have to battle your way through hordes of ninjas, vicious nut-tossing gophers, and even sharks when you go through the water traps! You might just want to take extra shots to go around some of these hazards, especially the water traps since they are BRUTAL.
Played to the 8th hole here, before getting pummeled by sharks and ninjas. The game gets brutally difficult near the end there. Makes sense, since there would be hardly any replay value otherwise.
Our new Atari 7800 core came out of the gate with extreme accuracy thanks to Kitrinx/Rysha, who also maintains the NES core and has brought it to the near-perfect state it's in today. Rysha is a dedicated and skilled dev, and has been a constant advocate for proper preservation. I've never met a person so excited about making old hardware obsolete, and we are lucky to have someone with this talent and drive working with the project so closely.
Note: I'm using 5x integer scaling in this video to fill the screen better, but didn't use the offset function to center it. You can get the image much closer to centered by utilizing that. The game isn't perfectly centered by default so it will never be exact.

=---------------CONTRIBUTE---------------=
None of this would be possible without the constant hard work of Sorgelig. It cannot be overstated how much he has done and continues to do for this project, since its beginning. You can support him either at his Patreon in the link below, or on Paypal, depending on your preference. MiSTer is a paradigm shift in how we can experience these classic games. This is a long-term preservation project that will continue to grow so that gamers today and in the future can experience these excellent systems as accurately and lag-free as possible. Donating what you can will help keep the updates coming. Thank you.
