MiSTer FPGA - Slam Tilt / Amiga
Just getting into Amiga for the first time recently, and have thoroughly enjoyed this often-suggested pinball game. It feels like some advanced demoscene magicians got together and made an awesome pinball game, with the way it sounds and looks. Impressive usage of the high resolution interlaced mode for the alternative table view. Great ball physics. This really is the complete package, for traditional video pinball.
The last table of the group, "Night of The Demon" is the worst of the bunch, with its multiple ramps and obstacles at the top often sending the ball straight down the center gutter. Another area where I feel it could have been better designed are the side bumpers on the left and right bottom, on pretty much every table. The angle of them has this ping-pong effect back and forth often, and this commonly results in the ball going down the far chute on either side for an instant gutter. This seems to occur much more commonly in this game than it should.
An awesome element on multiple tables, is the interactive scoreboard, where you will play mini-games to get huge bonuses. These include a driving and flying mini-game, where you steer with the flipper buttons and try to avoid hitting the walls as you go through courses. There are smaller ones that just have you time a button press at the right moment also.
Do yourself a favor and give this one a try if you are into pinball.
I have no idea how to switch tables after you select one, hence the resets every time I changed them in this video. I've noticed Amiga controls are often kind of obtuse and un-intuitive, as are the menu systems for many games. I'm often puzzled by the reliance on glyphs instead of just using text for the different selections. It's a bit of a style-over-substance affair, which seems to be a common trend in games in general, on the platform.
