Told ya I'd be back! Here's my first MultiVersus matches in the closed alpha test, curated just for you!

Just to make note of a few things: I've messed with the UI and color palette a bit and will be changing things again later on. You get a lot of options but this stuff isn't default. Also, when you see the game freezing...that isn't the video or the capture....the PS4 version is just kinda...like that sometimes.

Set 1: Training Room, Trophy's E.D.G.E.
Shaggy (me) & Reindog (Forumenti) vs. Batman (SpunkyBroadway) & Velma (NearlyPool97)

My very first match puts us on the drabbest stage in the game. Not a fan of the grid look already but did it have to be gray?! Anywho, this game is...fast and frantic and hard to follow at times. Shaggy is the game's recommended Bruiser character and is pretty straightforward. I can't believe I'm saying this, but Shaggy is a shoto. He can power himself up to buff his next special, which also buffs his ally too!

Reindog is an original character for this game and is kind of the premiere Support character. He can form a tether with his partner to pull them back from the brink of death, shoot out some nasty projectiles and as we see here, roll up into a ball that can be picked up and thrown by his teammate! Thanks, poochie!

Batman is another Bruiser, and is pretty straightforward really. Lots of acrobatic moves, some punches and kicks and plenty of gadgets! Smoke bombs, a grapple gun, and of course his Batarangs! Velma meanwhile is another Support character who can buff her allies with pep talks, or give them both big brains to decrease cooldowns on top of inflicting some nasty debuffs on foes. She can also gather evidence that she can eventually use to call the cops on you. I can't believe I'm saying this but Velma is basically a Phoenix Wright clone.

Set 2: Batcave, Training Room, Batcave
Wonder Woman (me) & Finn (Studison) vs. Garnet (OxfordComma) & Taz (Plotiona)

Here's a full best-of-three! With all new characters too! Starting off, Wonder Woman is the recommended Tank character. She can grant super armor to allies, pull them in with her lasso, and tank projectiles with her shield. I find her a bit hard to use personally though. Not my archetype maybe!

Finn is an Assassin with an interesting mechanic. As he hits enemies he knocks gold out of them, which he can spend for buffs, or for the powerful BMO chop, on top of generating a gem that he can instantly warp to, delivering a strong slash in the process. Saw a LOT of Finns playing this.

Garnet is a Bruiser who can hit hard with her gauntlets, as well as buff herself and allies with a song. Her recovery isn't the best, but she can lay a star down to instantly warp to it kind of like Finn and his gem (get it?!) to circumvent it.

And then...Taz. He's also a Bruiser but he's listed as being "experimental." Which I think is code for "still needs work." A lot of his VFX seem like placeholders, his moves still need some proper balancing (his spin side special is a bit TOO potent) but...there's a very bad glitch on PlayStation right now where he shows up as invisible for other players. So that's not fun to deal with at all! Otherwise, he's got an interesting moveset based around inflicting the Tasty debuff that can turn you into a roasted chicken and totally defenseless but...yeah can't fight what you can't see!

Set 3: Tree Fort, Training Room
Harley Quinn (me) & Velma (BereBery) vs. Superman (Casualte42) & Garnet (TacticAngel)

Already explained Velma and Garnet, so let's cover the OTHER two DC characters. Harley is an Assassin who uses her mallet and baseball bad in tandem with some clown gadgets of her own. Jack-in-the-boxes, dolls, and boxing gloves galore! She's pretty quick and hits hard...and she's already fixed to be nerfed apparently.

Superman is a Tank. He can jump high, hits hard, and can plow through most attacks with his super armor. His freeze breath can also inflict an ice debuff that slows and then freezes you solid so he can be a pain to deal with!

Set 4: Batcave, Tree Fort
Wonder Woman (SunGodmiika) & Harley Quinn (me) vs. Jake (CentBox) & Arya Stark (Dotso)

Oh I got paired with another One Piece fan! But let's describe our opponents instead. Jake is a Bruiser who uses his shapeshifting powers to give his attacks absurd range, on top of changing into a variety of things to slam into foes. He can even eat you!

Arya Stark meanwhile is another Assassin who can be pretty quick but requires finesse. She's listed as an "expert" level character. She can steal opponent's "faces" to copy their Neutral strong attack, and also fire off daggers she can teleport to. She also deals backstab damage!

All and all, this game can be a lot of fun...when you can comprehend what's going on. Got more footage to sift through for later, so stick around! Still playing the remaining days of the alpha too so I'll have more to share later on!
