MultiVersus - Steven the Assassin
We're back at it again... I now find myself trying to play MultiVersus at least once a day to get the daily missions done. That way I can earn some things on the battle pass AND earn some cash to....slowly earn more characters. But hey, free characters rotate again this week so surely we'll have more variety in time!
Match 1: Sky Arena
I've unlocked Steven, so I'm giving him a spin! I enjoy his moveset for the most part, but there's definitely some room for improvement I think. The Watermelon Stevens seem...pretty ineffective honestly, but they also seem like a nightmare to balance well so that's fair I guess. You know, despite being a support character...I kinda did most of the leg work with KOs. That Superman's pretty annoying with constantly spamming his flailing punches. Hit decay clearly isn't enough of a deterrent for this stuff. It just holds you in place for SO long and their partner is free to do whatever they want in the meantime.
Match 2: Trophy's E.D.G.E.
OK that one didn't go so hot. An unfortunately early KO from WW set us back and then we just couldn't clinch the win. That Superman's annoying but the Jake is clearly the biggest threat here. Really wish Watermelon Steven could actually...do anything of value instead of dying almost instantly.
Match 3: Tree Fort
OK, let's close this set out strong! We have some character switches on either side though....and I think it barely made much of a difference on my side. These trees are sure annoying! If you aren't careful you'll get bounced around and possibly die an early death. I got all four KOs...Steven makes a better assassin than Harley!
Match 4: Sky Arena Three Platforms
Oh I accidentally cut the match before this that we won. They ended up switching to Reindog, their true main, for this...and it was a rough one. I'm trying Taz out again...and he's become a bit of a nuisance for people. Or rather, his spin. Most Taz players I see just spin and do little if anything else...and you know what, it gets results! Clearly I wasn't doing that enough. Like a fool, I was trying to use his ENTIRE moveset...
Match 5: Scooby's Haunted Mansion
OK well at this point it was time for a change of plans here. Me AND my ally changed characters. Taz isn't broken enough...clearly Steven is the true Bruiser among them! Oh and...Superman's pretty good too.
Match 6: Scooby's Haunted Mansion
It's taken some time but I've really gotten a good feel for Wonder Woman. I still don't really get when and where to use her powered up down attack counter...thing, but the rest of her moveset is very nice and with some practice I can do some neat things with her! Really had to put in work here though, as we're fighting in REAL close quarters with two characters that have...annoyingly fast attacks. If Tom & Jerry are meant to be zoners why do their close-up moves have to be so damn good BTW?
Match 7: Tree Fort
I...forgot to cut out all the stuff in-between the last match and this one, sorry! But now you can see how long it takes between rounds and why I usually cut it... Yeah this one didn't go so good. I see Finn has found an annoying move to spam. His up special is a bit too strong for how fast it is. Sure its power is enhanced by the money he has...but Finn can stockpile a ton of money so it's never really like that weakness ever comes up.
Match 8: Sky Arena Three Platforms
It's for all the marbles now! Some very strong deaths here. At one point Bugs goes clear across the stage and kinda doesn't do anything. Rollback issue? Did he use up his jumps and specials already? Hard to say. Finn definitely comes across as one of the better characters in the game and among the most common. What's scary is that he isn't even in the free rotation yet. People likely unlocked him straight away...
I have one more video from this set but after this we'll likely see footage from after Lebron joins the game....can't believe that's a real sentence. Free rotations should also cycle too so we MIGHT see a bit more variety in matches....but let's be real Taz and Finn are never going away are they?
