0Heretical is an exciting new rogue-lite action RPG with Soulslike elements, currently in development. You play as a hero prophesied to dethrone Abidan, a demigod cult leader whose reign has brought devastating decay to the land. Set in the dark fantasy world of Sanctora, the game plunges you into a cursed town plagued by both supernatural forces and the oppressive rule of Abidan’s Inquisition. As the hero trapped in a cycle of life and death, you’ll uncover a world full of hidden lore, revealed through item descriptions, world interactions, and character dialogues—similar to the storytelling style of the Souls series.
The game offers a variety of playstyles and challenging combat, set within a multi-layered environment where elevation and positioning play a crucial role. The auto-lock system lets you focus on spacing, dodging, and timing, as attacking leaves you vulnerable. With most enemies charging at you, each encounter demands learning their attack patterns, as potions are scarce and every hit could be fatal.
Though still in Early Access, Heretical shows strong promise with its intricate world design and fast-paced, unforgiving gameplay. While the lore is still being developed, there's a lot of potential for depth, and I’m excited to see how the story and builds evolve. Developers are active and responsive, which bodes well for the future of the game.
