Nights into Dreams Gameplay - Playing It Before Getting Delisted from Steam (Saving the Classics)
The fourth and last game I'm showcasing of the Dreamcast Collection is "Nights into Dreams", which was originally developed for the SEGA Saturn and later adapted to the SEGA Dreamcast. The game also reached some recent notoriety as it was the alleged "inspiration" for the development of the infamous game "Balan Wonderworld". I recorded this video with the Xbox Game Bar, but as I promised, I appended with VideoPad a mention to the three other games of the Dreamcast Collection that I didn't cover, and why. Also, my plans for the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive Classics compilation, that is also being delisted today.
This game portrays the struggle of two children, Elliot and Claris, who have a very sad life and feel very depressed and worthless. Yet, in an alternate dimension named "Nightopia", they are the only hope to save that realm from the Nightmaren, led by Wizeman the Wicked, who intends to enslaver all Nightopians. However, there is a Nightopian that managed to remain free, called "NiGHTS", who is drawn to the bravery of the two children, and offers to help them free Nightopia and defeat Wizeman.
It is clear from the get-go that the creators of the game translated many of the ideas they used for the first Sonic the Hedgehog games, but now with flying instead of running, jumping and spinning. It is interesting because, despite this obvious intellectual recycling, it still feels original and enjoyable on its own right. Unfortunately, I couldn't make much progress because some of the Bosses don't get defeated by hitting them repeatedly, and I couldn't figure out how to beat them efficiently. Even so, I got better sensations about my progress here than when I played Jet Set Radio.
I hope you enjoyed this mini-series and that you managed to grab these games before their delisting.
See you in the next video!
