SEGA Bass Fishing Gameplay - Playing It Before Getting Delisted from Steam (Saving the Classics)
The second SEGA game I'm showcasing to preserve its legacy is SEGA Bass Fishing. Like Crazy Taxi, this one also seems to be a Dreamcast port from an Arcade game, by the looks of its game modes. Like I did with Crazy Taxi, I recorded this gameplay with the Xbox Game Bar.
This game has pretty much the same game modes as Crazy Taxi, as it has an Arcade Mode and an "Original Mode", which features Tournaments of different categories, which are harder as the player progresses throughout them. There is also a Practice Mode, where there isn't time pressure and the player can try different Lures and Cast Points to get used to the game's mechanics, as well as to select better locations to attempt to catch the next Bass. This last mode is actually nice to relax and learn the tricks of fishing at the player's own pace.
The idea is to fish the Bass by controlling the Fisher's Fishing Rod. After casting the Sinker with the selected Lure, the player can move the Rod or Reel it, in order to take advantage of the Lure's effect to attract the Bass and make them bite the Line. Then, the player must Reel as fast as possible to pull the Bass out of the water, but the Line can get broken as the fish ends up putting too much resistance. Just like fishing in real life, or that's what I guess, as I never fished in real life either.
Despite my frustration when I struggled to catch anything, I see the appeal for this type of games, although I don't see myself playing this all the time, unlike Crazy Taxi. However, it felt nice to play something different and I'll consider revisiting this game, but for now, more likely in private.
By the way, I think I might be able to showcase a fourth game of this collection, but I still need to see how things unfold in the next couple of hours. I'll do my best to bring it, but I'm not promising anything.
See you in the next video!
