Shadow Dancer: The Secret of Shinobi (1990) form SEGA stable is a sequel to the classic yet legendary game from the Shinobi brand. It is exactly the same concept only that developed on many levels. So you can therefore say that this is Shinobi on steroids. Everything has been improved graphics, animation, music, sound effects, level design and in addition we still get our faithful dog at our disposal. He is definitely useful during the levels, but useless during fights with bosses, unfortunately, and it's a pity because it would have added depth to the game, and so unfortunately the potential of the companion was lost. Our helper is useful but could definitely be more, because he only stun enemies to give us time to kill them . In addition, we have a sword attack and a ranged attack with shiruken . Depending on the distance of the enemy, attacks are performed automatically, so when someone approaches you, sword attacks will be performed instead of ranged attacks and vice versa. And the last special attack that clears the entire screen of enemies, very useful at certain points in the game. It is available only once per level, so you need to think carefully whether it's better not to leave it for boss fights. In general, the game is rather based on arcade game standards so you get one damage and unfortunately die instantly. Game Over is not hard to come by here. This is definitely not a game for people with weak nerves because the game will definitely induce full waves of frustration while going through it. And especially during the fight with the final boss, which is really annoying. Believe me it is and it is very much so. And yes I have to admit that the game is really good, simple in concept but good. Overall, I recommend it, and all in all, when the opportunity arises, I think I'll stock up on a physical copy myself to complete the shinobi collection on the Mega Drive.
