I can’t believe I didn’t think of this title sooner. At least I managed to use it before this Disgaea 2 revisit wrapped up…

Once again, I managed to hit my goal this time around. Hell, I almost even managed to get even further than that. There was a point where I did think it was possible to finish Axel Mode in four streams… but the second session killed that dream. And while my last session definitely exceeded my expectations, this one fell right into my parameters for a five-session schedule. I can’t really say I’m bitter about it, but I’m considering just wrapping things up on Monday night, so that I won’t have to worry about trying to juggle playing this with my streams, which should be starting on Thursday.

Disgaea’s writing has always felt a bit… disjointed to me. And I’m not even really sure if that’s just a consequence of NISA’s writing or if the original Japanese script was the same way. It honestly feels like every piece of dialogue is supposed to be a pun or something, but it just got lost in translation. That’s not to say that the writing itself is bad or anything. It just makes me wonder if that remains consistent in the other games. Granted, like I said before, I don’t really intend to play any other games in the series until the third game gets ported to PC. Seriously, if the speculation I’ve heard online that Vic Mignogna providing the main character’s English voice is the major hurdle, just redub his lines with the guy you replaced him with in Disgaea 7’s DLC. Though it looks like they left his role in the following game intact for Disgaea 4 Complete+.

It was a pretty rough day in general, so making the progress I needed to on this session was definitely a bright spot. I’d like to think that I was more talkative compared to the last three sessions… but it’s kind of hard to say. That being said, I’ve only got two stages left in this playthrough. I even almost managed to beat the penultimate stage, but it looks like I’ll need to do a little more grinding to get through that final bit. Still, considering just how my arrogance has cost me in the past, I’d rather just set aside a significant chunk of time to wrap things up – just in case.
