Monkey Wrench Island - Episode 1: Return to Torque

And then there were two. Now that the last substantial bonus game and the holdover from earlier are firmly in my rear view mirror, I've only got a pair of games left before I can finally call it quits on my livestreaming for the year and take a well-deserved break. At this rate, hitting my revised goal of finishing before Christmas looks more than possible, as I figure it'll only take two sessions per game to round out the year.
LucasArts' point-and-click adventure games are generally considered among the gold standard of the genre. Up to this point, the only one I've actually gone out of my way to play was Sam & Max Hit the Road, so it's cool that I'm getting the opportunity to play another one. I also managed to get this game for free awhile back, so being asked to stream it definitely gave me motivation to take the plunge. For some reason, I tend to be way less inclined to play free games compared to the ones I either bought myself or were gifted to me by someone else. It feels odd to consider a game of lesser value, simply because no money exchanged hands in order to add it to my library.
Sticking with the remastered visuals was clearly the right decision, but I'm glad I decided to check out what the classic option did. Also, the addition of vehicular combat was a nice touch. Usually point-and-click adventure games rely heavily on their writing for appealing -- and Full Throttle has been no exception -- but having more to do than just the standard puzzle-solving is a nice change of pace. That being said, I did have to resort to a guide for the last puzzle I completed that night, but that's only because I came to the wrong solution. Based on what the bikers guarding the ramp said, I assumed that I had to masquerade as the ghost of the ramp's previous owner to get it. In retrospect, using the ramp itself to destroy the road markers they rely on was simultaneously a simpler answer... and much more in line with how point-and-click adventure games tend to work.
I'm about halfway through the game at this point, so finishing everything up next time should be possible. I'm just surprised that coming up with episode titles is so hard for this. I was *sooooo* proud of the overall game title I used -- it's probably my favorite of 2023 by a wide margin.
