Pokémon Platinum Improved Speed Run Segment 23
2The longest segment in the run starts with another rival battle. I sacrifice Bibarel to take Staraptor's Intimidate. I then used a X-Speed and 2HKO'd Staraptor. Heracross is a 2HKO too, but I got a lucky critical hit. Because I used that X-Speed, I can now outspeed Infernape and Floatzel. They are OHKO'd by Earthquake and Razor Leaf. Roserade is OHKO'd thanks to Earthquake.
I entered the gym and fought a few gym trainers. All the Steelix survive an Earthquake and that Siczor does too. I used an Ether here to refill the PP of Earthquake. I would save before the trainer with the annoying Bronzor, but I didn't because I splitted the fog route segment up. An X-Attack is needed here so I can 2HKO all the Bronzor.
Byron is one of the easier gym leaders. I used a X-Attack to be sure to OHKO Steelix, because it can use Ice Fang. All his Pokemon are OHKO'd by Earthquake. I went into Iron Island to get Strength from Riley and entered the library. There is the long cutscene where the Galactic Bomb explodes. I flew to Veilstone City and went to Lake Valor, picking up a Rare Candy in the process. I saved finally in Lake Valor before the rotating Grunt, because it would suck if he would see me.
Saved at 2:07 with a L44 Torterra.
