I take on the Goldenrod Gym in Round 2, while Round 1 has proven to be a challenge with that Gym, the Trainers are a step up in terms of difficulty. This Gym specializes in Normal-type Pokémon, but they do include Pokémon of many types, like Ground, Flying, Water, and many others. Gym Leader Whitney was an infamous opponent in the Generation 2 games, but in Round 2 of the Goldenrod Gym, she is not to be taken lightly. I pick a team with some Pokémon that know Explosion, as well as some powerful attackers like Fearow and Magneton to take on some of the opponents.
I will list each Trainers, and the nicknames of the Pokémon, with the species name of the Pokémon in brackets, as well as their held item.
Battle 1: Lass Lois
Furette (Furret): Slam, Reversal, Dig, Quick Attack (Mint Berry)
Poryette (Porygon): Tri Attack, Conversion, Psychic, Thunderbolt (Magnet)
Trioette (Dugtrio): Magnitude, Tri Attack, Rock Slide, Sand-Attack (Bitter Berry)
Pluffette (Jumpluff): Giga Drain, Headbutt, Confusion, SolarBeam (PRZCureBerry)
Corette (Corsola): BubbleBeam, Rock Slide, Psychic, Mirror Coat (Focus Band)
Pomette (Aipom): Swift, Iron Tail, Shadow Ball, Counter (Miracle Seed)

Battle 2: Beauty Rita
Pikady (Pikachu): Attract, Present, Quick Attack, Double Team (Mint Berry)
Togedy (Togetic): Attract, Present, Encore, Double Team (Burnt Berry)
Abledy (Clefable): Attract, Present, Shadow Ball, Minimize (PRZCureBerry)
Tuffdy (Wigglytuff): Attract, Present, Shadow Ball, Double Team (Bitter Berry)
Azumdy (Azumarill): Attract, Present, Whirlpool, Double Team (PSNCureBerry)
Delidy (Delibird): Attract, Present, Curse, Double Team (Berry Juice)

Battle 3: Gym Leader Whitney
Miltank: Stomp, Earthquake, Reversal, Milk Drink (King's Rock)
Golduck: Surf, Psychic, Ice Beam, Cross Chop (BrightPowder)
Persian: Slash, Shadow Ball, Thunderbolt, Roar (Scope Lens)
Donphan: Earthquake, AncientPower, Double-Edge, Flail (Quick Claw)
Mr. Mime: Psychic, Double Team, Meditate, Baton Pass (MiracleBerry)
Tauros: Stomp, Earthquake, Iron Tail, Scary Face (Focus Band)

Round 2 does give the Trainers more options in attacks, like Egg Moves and TMs from Gen 1, for example, Jumpluff has Confusion, which it can get as an Egg Move, same with Furret's Reversal, Corsola's Rock Slide, and Aipom's Counter. For some reason, Aipom is holding a Miracle Seed despite not having any Grass-type moves, I have checked to see, and Aipom cannot learn any Grass-type attacks. Tri Attack is a move Dugtrio can only learn in Crystal, and from what I have checked, it cannot learn it through TM in Generation 1.
The second opponent has Attract, Present, and Double Team on all of her Pokémon, Present is the signature move for Delibird, its base power is random from 40, 80, or 120, but there is a 20% chance that Present will heal the opponent. Present is also an Egg Move on many Pokémon, like Pikachu, Clefable, Wigglytuff, Togetic, and Azumarill, this can be a tricky battle when you have to deal with Attract and Double Team.
Next up is Gym Leader Whitney, she does use that Miltank in the battle, and it now has the move Milk Drink, this is Miltank's signature move which restores its HP when used. She has also included some other Pokémon like Mr. Mime to deal with Fighting-types, and it can use Meditate to boost its Attack, Double Team to boost its evasion, and it can pass these boosts onto an ally with Baton Pass. To go over each of her Pokémon, Golduck has a BrightPowder to increases the chances of you attacks missing, and it has Ice Beam, which is a Tutor move in Crystal, and Cross Chop, an Egg Move. Persian has Shadow Ball to deal with Ghost-types, and the Scope Lens boosts its critical hit rate, Donphan has Earthquake to hit hard, and it has AncientPower, that is an Egg Move for it, and it has the Quick Claw to give it a chance to attack first, and Tauros is a powerful Normal-type that has the Focus Band, which has a 10% chance of it surviving an attack at 1 HP.
