Here are the team of Pokémon in this video, which was decided by the random number generator.
P1 Team: Caterpie, Sandslash, Nidoran♀, Kakuna, Butterfree, Chansey
CPU Team: Metapod, Slowbro, Primeape, Dodrio, Golduck, Vileplume

Then, I will list the moves for each Pokémon in battle, starting with my team.
Caterpie: String Shot, Tackle
Sandslash: Dig, Swift, Seismic Toss, Sand-Attack
Nidoran♀: Toxic, Thunderbolt, Body Slam, Blizzard
Kakuna: String Shot, Poison Sting
Butterfree: Psychic, Supersonic, Mega Drain, Stun Spore
Chansey: Thunder, Fire Blast, Minimize, Rest

The CPU's team of Pokémon and moves.
Metapod: String Shot, Tackle
Slowbro: Surf, Psychic, Disable, Withdraw
Primeape: Fury Swipes, Rock Slide, Low Kick, Screech
Dodrio: Fly, Tri Attack, Agility, Reflect
Golduck: Ice Beam, Surf, Toxic, Disable
Vileplume: Petal Dance, Sleep Powder, Acid, Cut

The teams we got selected give the CPU the better match-up, but at least Metapod was the lead Pokémon in that battle, while I had Nidoran♀ to lead off the fight, and it does have some moves that can help against some opponents, but with Dodrio's Speed, this is the one on the CPU side that is a threat to most of the Pokémon I have, doesn't help that I have three Bug-type Pokémon, and I have Chansey which has very low Defense.
Dodrio is not the only Pokémon which does threaten the team, there is Primeape which has Rock Slide to take out Butterfree in one hit, and I have Chansey for the Special Attackers like Golduck and Slowbro. Butterfree does have Psychic to take on Vileplume, but sometimes the CPU can end up using a move that isn't effective against the Pokémon that I have, expecting me to switch out to another Pokémon, not that I would switch Chansey in against Primeape or Dodrio. One other thing to go over, back then, Swift was able to hit Pokémon that used Dig or Fly, I don't know if it was a glitch or not, but in Generation 2 onwards, this is no longer the case, and if you are wondering, in this game, Thunder cannot hit a Pokémon that if using Fly, and Earthquake cannot damage a Pokémon that is using Dig.
Whenever I get Caterpie or any of the early Bug-type Pokémon, I usually either switch them in for them to be defeated in battle, or if they can take a hit, try and get in a String Shot to slow down the opponent's Pokémon, because there isn't much use to Caterpie for most of the fight, while Nidoran♀ does have some moves that can help, like Body Slam, Blizzard, and Thunderbolt depending on the opponent that is in the battle.
