Developed by No Goblin, Roundabout takes a revolving limousine. and spins it's into a 1970's live action B-movie. The object of the game is to pick up passengers and navigate your limo across an open world delivering them to their destinations. You can collect coins along the way which can be used to purchase to new paintjobs and hats. There's also horns, cash bundles, and property scattered throughout the land that you can look for. If you hit too many obstacles your limo blows up and you have to restart at the nearest checkpoint, which are extremely close together, so there's very little consequence in screwing up. The limo rotates by itself, so all you need to do is move across the and try to avoid trees, buildings, and other cars. You can speed up the movement with the trigger, and later you learn to jump with x, which makes getting around much easier. There's also special abilities you can unlock like slow motion, shrunken limo, and reverse direction, which can be activated for short bursts. The most notable feature of Roundabout is live acting that takes place between missions. The characters are great and I was really compelled to view all of the scenes and finish the game, which takes about 3 hours. Georgio, the driver, is a silent protagonist. The cutscenes are integrated nicely with no load times and you can skip them if you want. After beating the game you can jump back in a try to complete each of the event with different criteria, or go for low times and compete in online leaderboards. There's also challenge events like demolition derbies where you lure the police cars into crashing. There's even a complete game speedrun mode, which can apparently be beaten in under 11 minutes. Wow. Overall, Roundabout is a fun and silly experience, that successfully integrates a b-movie into a lighthearted action adventure driving game. I normally don't like story-heavy game or cutscenes, but Roundabout was so over the top and unique that it held my attention from start to finish in one sit through. Going back and completing the extra objectives is nice, but since dying doesn't really set you back, the only real challenge can be found in climbing the leaderboards, which there are plenty to keep you busy.
