Metroid: Other M - Obligatory Aliens Reference (Part 15)
Samus's Log: "The RB176 Ferrocrusher is fairly standard construction equipment. I've even seen models employed on farms. Quite dangerous in the wrong hands, though I am thankful it cannot function well when exposed to extreme cold. I'm reminded of a classic film for some reason. The name is on the tip of my tongue..."
We continue our journey through the Cryosphere with some tricky platforming. Can't blame the game for this at least! What I CAN blame is the game's propensity to sucker punch you. 3:25 is a good example of that. The enemy spawned in off-screen, and lands an attack the INSTANT I get out of my Lethal Strike animation. I honestly can't tell if that's supposed to be scripted or not, but either way there's some unavoidable damage there!
And then we encounter....another Grogranch? In the snow?! Can this thing really survive in the cold?! I've learned from past encounters though. So I'll lame this the HELL out and stay FAR away. ARE WE HAVING FUN YET?!
What's this?! Maurice! Oh no! How....tragic. But wait, a woman! Track down that blond-haired blue-eyed woman, Samus! Wait...that matches YOUR profile too....eh, I'm sure it's just a coincidence.
After tracking her down (in our SLOW cinematic stride) we don't get many questions answered, other than....there's a traitor in our midst?! And here they are! Attacking with...what amounts to the power loader suit from Aliens. Metroid has tons of Alien and Aliens references throughout the games, but this is a tad much, isn't it?
The Ferrocrusher is a pretty threatening boss, due to its size and speed in an enclosed arena. Its second phase is pretty dangerous; seriously don't touch it's front. That stuff hurts! 80 damage?! Forced me to Concentrate during the fight...always makes for a scary fight!
Kinda weird how Samus never tries to...attack the cockpit? Rip the traitor out of the thing and unmask him then and there? So yes, we have a Deleter among us....some people apparently hate that name, but its fine. AND THEY APPARENTLY CLAIM ANOTHER VICTIM. How did they get to the Pyrosphere so quickly?
More importantly....WHY THE HELL DOES ADAM NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THERE BEING A TRAITOR IN THEIR MIDST?! He seems oddly fixated on the creature we're still apparently tracking but like....dude, this is something serious to at least acknowledge!
