And just like that, we're back to the retros! Welcome to 'Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island'. This game is actually a prequel that takes place shortly after Mario and Luigi were born! I thought Mario was older than Luigi, but I guess they were born...at the same time? Yeah, probably best not to think about that.

Anyway, the newborn Luigi was taken by Kamek the Magikoopa, leaving Mario all alone. Luckily he landed on Yoshi's Island. Now a group of Yoshis will commit to helping Baby Mario and reuniting him with his brother. So we'll be controlling Yoshi, not Mario. If Yoshi gets hit while carrying Mario, Mario will fly off crying. If Mario is separated from Yoshi for ten seconds, Kamek will take him away. Got it?

So basically, there are six worlds in the game. Each world has eight levels and each level gives you a score between 0 and 100 upon completion. The score is determined by three things you can collect in each level.

1. Stars (or 'star men) - When Baby Mario falls off Yoshi's back, the stars create a bubble around Baby Mario that protects him until it's depleted. Each star is one second of protection. You start each level and each life with a default of ten stars and can collect a maximum of 30.

2. Red Coins - These will normally appear as regular coins and will turn red as you collect them. They will also make a sound different from the normal sound a coin makes as its collected. There are a total of 20 per level.

3. Smiley Flowers - There are five of these in each level, you can't mistake them for anything else. They're quite literally large smiling flowers. Collecting all five gives you a 1-up.

So in order to get a perfect 100 in each stage, you'll need:
30 Stars
20 Red Coins
5 Smiley Flowers

If you get a perfect 100 in each stage of a world, it will unlock an 'extra' stage and a bonus game level. I originally planned to do each world plus its extra level in each video, but have now decided to do a video on all the extra levels later.
