Console demo CDs really have gone the way of the Dodo these days, but the Sega designed Saturn demos really were something else. This 1996 PAL demo CD included playable samples of Panzer Dragoon Zwei, Sega Rally Championship, Baku Baku Animal and Golden Axe The Duel. A watch mode demo of Virtua Fighter 2 (That includes most of the game) and a video movie of UEFA Euro 96 England.

Sega Flash Vol.1 was included as a pack in demo for the Saturn during 1996, Randomised Gaming's own editor got a copy with his Saturn in Christmas 1996. It was also included on issue 4 of the magazine Total Saturn in the UK.

What makes these demos a class of their own is the music and graphics done for the presentation. Which has been done specifically for these demos. Now this first front end shown here, was used between 1995-1996. Sega used this front end in all regions for various demo CDs. In Japan it was used for the early Flash Sega Volumes and note the fact that for a PAL demo it includes the Japanese Saturn logo in the 3D room. There was even a little Easter Egg in the attract demo for players to find which is shown right at the video end. The demos are a mixed of optimised PAL code and raw NTSC code in places.

This footage was in part captured for a couple of other videos, but for our viewers who want a raw look at the demo CD here you go with gameplay from all included games. Note we've had to do some clever editing to hide all the resolution changes as this demo swaps resolution between most of the menu screens, especially when you have the attract videos showing making it a nightmare to capture with the OSSC. Load times have also been cut down.

Footage is captured directly from original hardware in this case a modded PAL Sega Saturn console, via RGB Scart captured via Elgato Game Capture HD60 Pro using a open source scan converter (OSSC). Upscaled to 4K to improve the video bit rate.
