LA Noire Walkthrough Part 23: House Of Sticks
0Elsa Licthmann visits Jack Kelso in California Fire And Life Insurance Company and requests that he investigates the death of her friend, claiming to believe that he was a victim of a foul play and refusing a policy payout of 20 thousand dollars in the process, much to Jack's surprise. Despite this, he agrees to investigate the matter. After Elsa leaves Jack is called to see his boss Curtis Benson who inquires about Elsa's arrival and upon being told the reason by Jack, urges him to pay her out regardless and forget about the investigation. Finding that odd, Jack decides to disobey his boss and heads to the construction site where Elsa's friend worked before he died. While investigating it, Jack learns that the owners of the site, Elysian Fields Developments, use inferior materials such as inproperly mixed cement and weak lumber stripped from movie sets, one of such places being from a defunct studio called Keystone Films. After narrowly surviving an attempt on his life by the site foreman who tries to run him down with a bulldozer, Jack heads to Keystone Films' abandoned complex and learns that Elysian Fields Developments and Suburban Redevelopment Fund are indeed using the lumber from the studio's movie sets in order to build the houses on cheap and that the company has another development site. He also finds a movie reel revealing that all members of the Suburban Redevelopment Fund, including the chief of LAPD, District Attorney and even the mayor, are fully aware of the situation. With this realization, Jack contacts Elsa with two setting up a meeting behind Blue Room Jazz Club that evening during Elsa's performance break and Benson who once again warns Jack to stop his investigation after being asked if he is involved with the Suburban Redevelopment Fund. After meeting up with Elsa and informing her about everything he had learned so far, Jack heads towards the second development site where he is ambushed by three thugs working for Leland Monroe and brutally beaten up. Afterwards, he is hauled into the trunk of their car as they intend to kill him and dispose of his body before killing Elsa as well. However, Jack manages to free himself and steal a car, eventually losing the pursuing thugs and coming to Elsa's apartment, ultimately collapsing at her doorstep due to his injuries...
