LA Noire Walkthrough Part 24: A Polite Invitation
0While recovering from the injuries sustained during the encounter with Leland Monroe's thugs, Jack is visited by an assistant DA named Petersen who reveals his intention to replace current, corrupt District Attorney and expose the corruption within Los Angeles' administration, being offered a chance to help him by taking up a job as DA's investigator, an offer which Jack accepts. Upon recovering, Jack leaves the clinic where he was held and goes to confront Curtis Benson in order to find out his role in Suburban Redevelopment Fund and their conspiracy, discovering that he took part in the organization's embezzlement and more disgustingly, that he is a pedophile maintaining a sexual relationship with a 12-year old girl. After returning to California Fire & Life Insurance building, Jack discovers that Elysian Fields has created more bogus houses meant to be burned down for insurance money. As he does, he is visited by Cole with two men agreeing to work together to stop Suburban Redevelopment Fund. In order to find out more about their developments, Jack heads into Hall Of Records and while investigating investors of the fund, discovers Courtney Sheldon's name amongst them. As he does, he is confronted by Monroe's thugs and is forced to engage them in a shootout. Afterwards, he goes to confront Courtney at his university, discovering that he is unaware of his supposed involvement with the Suburban Redevelopment Fund, realizing that Courtney's naivety was used to turn him into an unwitting patsy for the men in the fund, Jack returns to his apartment where he is called by Leland Monroe who invites him for a meeting at his mansion. Knowing that it is a trap, Jack gathers some of his old unit members with the group proceeding to assault the mansion grounds. Eventually, Jack fights his way into the house itself and makes his way to Monroe's office, shooting him in the leg. As he searches the office, Jack finds additional evidence against Suburban Redevelopment Fund and even against another fund member; Harlan Fontaine. With evidence against fund secured, Jack contacts Cole only to end up talking to Biggs, learning that a mysterious arsonist responsible for Steffens, Sawyer and Morelli house fires has resurfaced, having kidnapped Elsa Litchmann with wounded Monroe revealing that while he doesn't know arsonist's name, he knows that he was Fontaine's patient before he went rogue and that he works as a bug sprayer somewhere in Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, Courtney Sheldon visits Harlan Fontaine and confronts him with the discoveries regarding Suburban Redevelopment Fund with Fontaine pretending to be shocked as Courtney tells him that the organization intends to burn down the houses ostensibly built for the returning soldiers, ultimately taking advantage of Courtney trusting him to forcibly overdose him with morphine, killing him...
