Silent Hill 2 Walkthrough Part 1: Our Special Place (INTRO)
1As promised, dear gamers, PlayStation 2 games will finally be introduced on this channel, fulfilling one of my long-term goals for the channel that i had ever since uploading my very first video back in February 2017. Since the first video on the channel was a tribute montage i made using materials from Silent Hill 2, i figured it would be more than appropriate to have it as an inaugural game for PS2 on this very channel. Now, without further ado, sit back, relax and enjoy the cult classic that is Silent Hill 2.
About Game: Silent Hill 2 is 2001 third-person survival horror video game developed and published by Konami Computer Entertainment Japan, being released for PlayStation 2, Microsoft Xbox and Microsoft-based PCs with HD remasters being published for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012. It is a second mainline game in Silent Hill video game series and has no story connections to its predecessor, 1999's Silent Hill. Upon release, Silent Hill 2 was met with critical acclaim on account of its somber atmosphere, graphics, characters, monster designs and sound while criticism was aimed primarily at its controls. Despite this, Silent Hill 2 entered the gaming history as one of the most praised survival horror games ever released and is even cited as one of the best overall video games ever made, remaining arguably the most popular Silent Hill game in the series. Due to this critical acclaim and corresponding financial success, third game in the series was released in 2003.
Story of the game follows James Sunderland, a young widower whose wife named Mary died after growing terminally ill. However, three years after her passing, James receives a letter supposedly written by Mary in which she reveals that she is waiting for him in their "special place" in a lakeside town of Silent Hill, Maine. Unsure of the letter's veracity, James heads to the town regardless, quickly finding it eerily deserted and blanketed in thick fog, deciding to head to the town's lakeside public park called Rosewater Park. As he approaches the town on foot, James passes through a graveyard where he encounters a young woman who reveals that she is looking for her mother. Upon entering the town itself, James finds its roads covered in blood trails and sees a shadowy humanoid creature walking off. Upon following it into a disused service tunnel, James discovers that the creature is an aggressive monster, being forced to beat it to death in self-defense. Continuing on, he finds the town's streets filled with more identical creatures, eventually ending up seeking shelter within Woodside Apartment building...
