Sonic Movie Style Character Development - Shadow Day 004
Major headaches and backtracking almost a whole days worth of work. After discovering that Zmodeler tool in Zbrush actually had a function to allow for surface snapping, while trying to reform and reflow the topology into better shapes I had the bright idea to hand reposition every vert of the half of the face that I had liked. Unfortunately one of the dang verts fused and just like that all of the facial rigging and bone information from CC4 is lost. Spent today re-learning how to completely turn off vert snapping with the move tool of Zmodeler and do a few test GoZ transfers just to confirm my model was still staying compatible and recognizable as a pre-rigged CC4 avatar (Kevin)
Again shout out to Frictory 213 on sketchfab for a solid ref to work based off of.
This ref model can be found here for those interested.

If you are a CC4 user you may wanna follow this whole process just to keep up with some success stories, missteps and backtracks. There will be plenty of mistakes made I assure you but the point is taking advantage of these pre-rigged humanoids, putting your own new bones and appendages on them and still retaining CC4s built in facial rigging if you are like me, a character modeler/texturer with no animation chops whatsoever. Come along for the journey, this mess is finna be wild!
