Splatoon 3: An early score in Salmon Run Big Run [42-43-41-xs, 46/917]
I got 119 golden eggs in my first Big Run on Undertow Spillway. It took a couple of hours before I would better that. Not that it is a good start for me, missing eggs left and right, but what I don't get my squidmates do, and it's the total eggs that count. I think I do well to leave a squidmate looking after the Big Shot and its cannon, rather than concentrate ourselves out there, letting me deal with more bosses, and more eggs, nearer the basket, giving us an encouraging tally for the first wave.
I'm not happy with the Goo Tuber for the second wave, less so when Glowflies appear. We have a secret weapon in the Dynamo Roller, though! But it being a new stage, and the changes of direction by the Chum makes it tricky to keep a consistent roll going. But they keep it going, despite a couple of wobbles, and I do what I can with the Goo Tuber. I use a Dolphin too, just maybe at the wrong time. The trick with Glowflies isn't just not getting splatted, but it's getting the eggs in to the basket too. If we stick near the back, we throw most of them, and run out of ink. If we head forwards, we are likely to be splatted. There's a balance to be struck, and I think we do well. Another good wave, leaving us just one to go.
The Aerospray feels like a good weapon, and should keep the Chum population down and the turf inked. It also deals with Fish Fingers nicely, a boss salmonid that too many inklings seem to dismiss. Or maybe they don't look up. But getting stuck in their trumpeted ink is too disruptive. We do well enough just afterwards that we seem to run out of bosses. A nice place to be normally, but not great when you want to maximise eggs. The action picks up again soon enough, and to the point where I think a second Dolphin is warranted. I time it badly, though, but at least it doesn't do harm. We end the wave again over the forty-mark, making it a new record for me. Nice!
On top of the record, we get a Cohozuna, and Mr Grizz shows his sense of humour by giving me an E-litre 4K, when the Grizzco Charger is available. I do my best, which is mainly using my Dolphin immediately, then relying on eggs made by squidmates to do any damage to the Zuna. It does the trick, though, and I even try some headshots, which Link assures me are more effective, bringing the Zuna inksplode in good time. We even get a nice clutch of silver scales for our efforts. Woomy!
