Splatoon 3: Sneaky finish in Rainmaker [7(2)-3, Range Blaster]
The third of my rank-up battles! I'm sticking with the Range Blaster, and pepper the turf as much as possible at the start, without putting myself in trouble. My squidmates get the splats and move the Rainmaker, hitting the first checkpoint nice and early. I am caught between defending our rear and watching the Rainmaker, and manage to do neither, and end up running away. Things seem okay, though, so I head back, only to be caught by more of the purple team than I suspected were there.
The purple team don't move the Rainmaker quickly, but are pressing forwards with their turf control. I try to halt some coming down the side, only to make a poor decision to chase forwards and get hit by two blasters at once. I head back with the Rainmaker on our side, but only just, and a battle for the turf underway. We do to start with, but the purple team gain some turf, and I have to hide again. I accidentally dodge a Hammer, and decide to head the long way behind everyone to be sneaky. It doesn't really work, as the Squiffer sees me coming, inflating a protective Bubbler. I am close, though, so get closer, and fluke the splat first.
Luckily, the Rainmaker hasn't got far, but, then, neither do I after the Squiffer before getting splatted. At least my squidmates stopped the Rainmaker, and my Wave Breaker finishes a Wipeout. I tidy up a bit, my squidmates moving the Rainmaker forward as a priority, but sticking near the back catches the Squiffer trying to flank. And that gives me the idea to do the same, not that I need much prompting to go a different direction.
My squidmates nearly hit the podium, focussing the purple team's attention as I steal down the side, approaching from an angle that is harder to see. And thanks to a charged Wave Breaker, I can double-up my Suction Bombs just as the Rainmaker shield is getting nice and orange, bagging me a splat and an open invitation to quickly dunk the Rainmaker. Not even the Clash Blaster can stop me. Woomy!
