I liked the Clash Blaster, but I am more comfortable with the Range Blaster. I probably ought to branch out a little more, and for longer, to give me more tools. For now, I'm happy to keep blasting at range. It works well when peeking under the Rainmaker, getting a neat double, and a squidmate splatting the Dynamo Roller opens up a gap that a lone Inkbrush can't plug. We reach the first checkpoint easily. Resistance follows, of course, so I take a different path, getting another double splat nice and early. The Splattershot Pro stops progress, though, their B-bomb encompassing the heavy Rainmaker. I'm not sure how I escaped, but I only do so to get covered in green ink seconds later.

The green team recover the Rainmaker and start trying to create their own opportunity. I try to blast them from below, getting close but not moving far. I try a flanking move again, and am a bit disappointed I don't quite hit the Dynamo Roller enough, but perhaps could have stopped the pursuit. I sit back and wait on my return, catching one inkling come to the checkpoint, and stopping the Inkbrush from rushing in to grab the Rainmaker. They do anyway, a squidmate splatting them, leaving me to avoid the Dynamo Roller's flicks again. A Suction Bomb finds an inkling, and although moving around doesn't catch the roller, I spot the Splattershot Pro in a position vulnerable to blasting.

I move up looking for the Range Blaster and finding the Dynamo Roller coming my way. I splat them this time, as the Range Blaster finds me, and we both struggle with slow, long-range weapons for a few moments. I get lucky first. I press on as best I can with the Splattershot Pro deterring me, and nearly succumb to more roller ink, just about managing to escape back to safety. We recover the Rainmaker but don't get far, and I don't want to rush in to a mess again, so do what I can from range. It's not much. But I was right about not wanting to get close.

The map doesn't look great, and not because of ink coverage, but because all my squidmates are huddled together avoiding something, and it's unsurprising that they are all splatted almost at the same time. I come back alone with the green team advancing. I do what I can, not wanting them to waltz past our score, but a good shot by the Range Blaster puts paid to my defence and they advance anyway. Our lead is gone, and with under a minute left in the battle. I get a splat to help tidy up and move on to the Rainmaker, where a Suction Bomb I couldn't see splats me rather abruptly. But at least my squidmates recover the Rainmaker.

I move up to help, the Rainmaker sensibly holding back until we get some splats, the rest of us trying to get those splats, but the Dynamo Roller is there to stop me. The Rainmaker is dropped too, when making a canny dash, just one point from victory. It's not bad timing, to be fair, as we have just enough time to make one last grab, which means bursting the Rainmaker for ourselves. I super-jump back to help, my inking tipping the balance, bagging a final double splat and causing a wipeout that is satisfying to see. There is nothing stopping us stealing the lead back in the final second. It's a shame the Splattershot Pro disappeared at the ten-second mark, but either way it was a tense finish. Woomy!
