Street Fighter Alpha 3 - Dreamcast - Intro & Arcade playthrough as Ryu & Survival 10 Battle [4K]
Full gameplay longplay, playthrough walkthrough, guide and trueplay of the arcade ladder as Ryu in the SEGA Dreamcast version. As with all the home port the Dreamcast version added in a number of extra characters not seen in the arcade with Guile, T. Hawk, Dee Jay, Fei Long, Evil Ryu, Guile, Shin Akuma and Final Bison / Vega (Shadaloo-ISM) all being added. This version features lots of extra modes, hence the Saikyo Dojo subtitle.
This should have been a flawless arcade port with new content, but sadly the port didn't go well. The game was rebuilt for the Dreamcast and as a result the graphics were saturated in colour and the screen scaling was changed, meaning nothing quite matches the arcade look. The game was also rebalanced to improve upon the arcade and while hardcore fans may moan these changes were needed. The problem is that something went wrong with these changes, the hit detect is off and many attacks will miss your opponent in certain cases when timed right, mirror matches are very bad for this and this problem was in all versions made worse in the DC port.
Input lag also raises its ugly head, which is either down to the terrible Dreamcast control and arcade stick or the port. The game just doesn't feel as zippy or smooth as the arcade or SEGA Saturn version. The game also has duff inputs and this can be seen by spamming light punch, with some presses failing to register again this may be down to the controller. The end result is a port that just doesn't play or look right, that even casual players will lose matches through no fault of their own. The SEGA Saturn port while not having quite as much content is a far better version to look at and play across the board and the Dreamcast port ranks as one of the weaker home conversions. If you want to see a full on 1CC for this version check out our Shin Akuma video: https://youtu.be/6ZayxEQpNd8
This video was captured via VGA with the screen scaling set to 100%. You can tell it's somewhat off from the arcade look, our Shin Akuma playthrough video was captured via RGB and at 99% scaling. So have a comparison if you want between the two, we thing 99% scaling is slightly better and looks a little less distorted in places.
