And one more Tourney, and I'll be playing other things. Say, when is Freedom Planet coming out? Is it the 20th of August? A bit of a shame no characters from Freedom Planet are in Runbow though, which is otherwise a mishmash of indie game company characters. Hey, the Freedom Planet critters do a lot of running! (UPDATE: Sash Lilac has since been added to Runbow.)

Tournament Type:
1vs1 For Fun - Large (Stock)

Here's something a little different: Until now, we've only had tournaments meant for 4-player matches. This time, they're 1-on-1, meaning there will always be only two-player matches, and the tournament brackets are built with that in mind. This also means that, because there are 64 possible slots, the tournament will go on for 6 rounds instead of 3, which is why this video is significantly longer. In addition, because it's Stock, they have a slightly longer time limit of 3 minutes. (Everyone begins with 2 Stock.) Not all of them will go for the full three minutes though.

You can see from this video's thumbnail that it's going to be a long and complicated one: 61 people joined in on this tournament, meaning the first round has 3 players with byes and 29 1-on-1 matches going on at once. I didn't get a bye, so I started from the bottom. Let's begin there.

The randomizer gave me Pit. I didn't notice anything different about any of his specials, though he did see to jump a bit better than normal. For all intents and purposes, I treated him as default Pit.

Round 1
Duck Hunt
vs. Ken (Bowser)
23% with one side special from Bowser? He really packs a wallop, though I'd expect no less. The match swung back and forth with this one, and ironically, one of the swings down, when Bowser got the Smash Ball, was when Kid Icarus music started playing.

Round 2
Pyrosphere
vs. tim (Ryu)
You know what I'm enjoying about this? Not too much lag. You know what I was dreading? I'm terrible at Pyrosphere. I rarely ever win on Pyrosphere, and I have a tough time taming Ridley. I did this time, but not for long. My opponent got a bye on the first round, so this is actually tim's first match. Of course, unlike in real-life events, there's no depleted energy or stamina for having to play more rounds than someone else. You do still have a higher chance of losing, however. I don't know when I managed to inflict 367% of damage over two Stocks on Ryu, as that match doesn't add up at all, but hey, I'll take it.

Round 3
Wily's Castle
vs. Brendan (Mii Swordfighter)
I have never gotten this far in this mode before...then again, this is my first day where I'm able to play proper matches. Brendan's strategy for Wily's Castle seems to be to attack Yellow Devil whenever it appears. Yellow Devil is tremendous trouble, no doubt about it. Looks like the Upperdash Arm cuts straight through those weird whirlwinds, whatever they are. Lots of Miis in these tournaments, by the way. No doubt so many people are jumping at the chance to use the Mii Fighters in unrestricted modes finally. Tiny lag means I'm also able to free Pit from Boss Galaga's grasp. Remember: When Yellow Devil closes its eye, that means it's going to split. Also, Yellow Devil will never appear at the same time as the rails platforms.

Quarterfinals
Luigi's Mansion
vs. Josh (Rosalina & Luma)
I told you that the Special Flag was the bane of my existence as far as Smash Bros. goes. Well, since I figured I'd never be able to reap the benefits, I figured I could take advantage of how it completely shifts people's focus during a match. Josh had the advantage over me until the Special Flag showed up, who was playing defensively and attacking opportunistically, which probably explains why his previous match against that Mega Man was the last one to finish. I was not interested at all in using the flag, by the way, and I was a bit befuddled when a Smash Ball showed up, the other item that draws everyone's attention to itself.

Semifinals
Gamer
vs. Matt (Samus)
And here I am in the semifinals of a 61-person tournament. Apparently, I emerged victorious out of my bracket of 16 (15, technically) and was matched against another bracket's fourteenth position. This is a different Matt than the one who won the Aug 11 15 A tournament, but I felt just as outmatched. He took full advantage of the low ceiling to deliver blow after blow. However, this is also the first time I've uploaded a match on Gamer where 5-Volt walks back and forth across the room. This severely restriects space and encourages throwing, which I'm no good at.

Unfortunately, this is where Pit's journey ends. Not including that Pit at a bottom bracket who lost on the first round.

Finals
Port Town Aero Dive
Matt (Samus) vs. Miro (Mii Brawler)
Here's the finals match anyway, because I know you want to see how it ends. There's no mercy from Miro to Samus in this one. Still, that's a very interesting use of Metagross, however unintentional. I'm putting that in the Pokémon Montage.
