NSMBU Mini Run - Superstar Road-5 - Spinning Platforms of Doom
Previous: Hammerswing Caverns
Next: Fire Bar Cliffs
They knew Painted Swampland would be pretty popular as a stage, so that motif, among the choices of multi-motif Soda Jungle would be chosen for this one. Since the innermost part of Soda Jungle is haunted, you have plenty of Boos here, as well as some particularly tricky sets of Circling Boo Buddies.
The draw to this stage is irregularly-shaped platforms, or sets of irregularly-shaped platforms, that spin on an axis. Once Mario steps on such a platform, the axis will start moving along a track, and it's your job to keep up with the simultaneous spinning and moving. One of them has Circling Boo Buddies that will move with the platforms, limiting Mario's ability to jump. The last one swings back and forth, not unlike the previous stage's hammerswing platforms. I personally feel this is the tougher stage than Hammerswing Caverns, by the way.
Also, the background, while recycled from Painted Swampland, has Bowser Jr. at the end rather than Bowser. What exactly is going on in the background anyway? Is that a gigantic, 100-foot statue of Bowser Jr.? It seems awfully weird to have such a giant replica of a character, even a villain, in the middle of a thick forest. Blame it on Vincent van Gogh.
Say, how does a star-shaped golden platform out in space have all these environments anyway? And all these inhabitants? And why is it so perilous?
