Hmm, it looks like there's a Global Testfire for Splatoon this coming weekend. I wonder: How does that even work? I thought they were done with them. Would Nintendo really throw people who've never played the game to the wolves? I suppose they'll get their own rooms away from everybody else. Still, it's strange timing. Why so long after the game's come out?

As for me, I am attempting to decipher the Inklingh language. If I am the first one to figure it out, I will acquire Splatoon, as I wouldn't be able to make a proper video explaining it without creating my own footage. I've seen some people already deem it as complete and utter gibberish, but I don't think so. I've applied what I know about decryption, and I think it can be decoded. I have already figured out about half of the numeral system and have identified at least six character sets (though there may be as many as eight). The thing is that it is NOT a simple substitution cipher, unlike Hylian or that language in Final Fantasy X. (A simple substitution cipher refers to a code where each letter is substituted for a symbol or character. And for some reason, some people can't seem to think beyond simple substitution ciphers.) Rather, I have reason to believe it is a polyalphabetic cipher (meaning multiple characters can be decoded into the same letter).

The thing is that, looking at other efforts, people are coming in using linguistics knowledge. I'm terrible at foreign languages. As I know more about cryptography (codebreaking, if you're not familiar with it), I'll be tackling this challenge from that end instead.

In any case, here are some Super Smash Bros. Wii U tournaments.

Tournament Type: For Fun - Large (Time)

Only 14 people joined up for this one, so it became a Small (Time) one instead though. Hence, we begin in the Semifinals. The randomizer gave me Toon Link. He's slightly slower than what I'm used to, and he has Fire Arrows, as well as these bombs that he can only throw a fixed distance.

Semifinals
Pilotwings
vs. Damian (Mii Brawler), tuffy (Mario), and FET4L FURY (Ganondorf)
Sure enough, someone got disconnected, and there we all went. Gah! So I went to another one.

Tournament Type: 1v1 For Fun - Small (Stock)

This will be a smaller version of the type of Tourney where I used Pit. Remember that? This time, I was joined up by WhiteKhakis (Unagi, using Mii Brawler) and Lombardi88 (using Ganondorf). I rolled Captain Falcon for this one. I didn't notice anything noticeably different.

Round 1
Boxing Ring
vs. blue flash (Ryu)
There was some amount of button lag for me during this match. Captain Falcon always reacted about one-third of a second after I pressed a button or held a direction. That being said, I shouldn't use that as an excuse for me losing, as I'd bet blue flash had the same issue too. He could deal with it better. It was amusing to see Gogoat carrying a Master Ball around though.

As I got out in the first round, I decided to see how my opponent would do. So here's blue flash'es second round.

Quarterfinals
Mario Circuit (Brawl)
blue flash (Ryu) vs. george (Mii Brawler)
Goku? Personally, that looks a lot more like Naruto to me. Of course, if I recall correctly, ninja-themed moves are assigned to the Mii Swordfighter. Both Goku and Naruto like to wear orange though, so why the yellow? Some of thesew awkward movements leads me to believe there was button lag here too, like the way they'd just run past each other.

blue flash defeated george and moved on to the Semifinals.

Semifinals
Mario Circuit (Brawl)
blue flash (Ryu) vs. Unagi (Mii Brawler)
He gets to fight another Mii Brawler, but now he's up against WhiteKhakis, an acquaintance of mine. He also gets to do so in the very same stage as the last round. The pendulum in this match sure swung the other way so hard. blue flash had the upper hand until the first KO but them lost all momentum after that.

WhiteKhakis was victorious and moved on to the Finals.

Finals
Garden of Hope
Unagi (Mii Brawler) vs. JamesFrodo (Samus)
That crab sure can mess with you a bunch. Apparently, this Samus has some kind of custom scheme that makes her very difficult to deal with once she gets ahead, though I don't know much about custom moves, so I can't really say what that is. But still...that giant enemy crab!
