I am playing through Classic Mode with Rosalina & Luma, and what I do with Classic Mode is that I randomize a list to decide who my next characters will be, the playlist displays the fighters in order of how they are displayed on the roster. Rosalina's Classic Mode route is One Star after Another, and her Classic Mode is a space-themed route, much like Fox and Olimar, and her opponents are characters that are from space or other planets, and the only Assist Trophy to appear in battles is Starfy.
To unlock Rosalina & Luma, there are many different ways, one of them is Vs. Matches, where Rosalina is the 45th character to be unlocked, and she is the 3rd character unlocked by completing Classic Mode with Donkey Kong or anyone in his unlock tree after Pokémon Trainer.
In Round 1, you fight against Olimar, and the stage is Distant Planet, in Round 2, your opponents are Fox and Wolf in a free-for-all match, and the stage you fight them on is Venom. In Round 3, you fight against Samus on Brinstar, and in Round 4, your opponent is Ridley, and you fight him on Brinstar Depths. In Round 5, you fight a Horde Battle against six Kirbys, and the stage is Dream Land, the Kirbys could be a reference to Lumas, as they come in many different colours, and the Luma that fights alongside Rosalina starts as a Yellow Luma, and when it is defeated, another Luma spawns after a few seconds in a different colour. In Round 6, you team up with Mario as a CPU Ally against Bowser, and the stage is Mario Galaxy, this is possibly a reference to the final battle in Super Mario Galaxy. Items do not appear in that fight, and the song that plays is used in the final battle in Super Mario Galaxy 2, which you only hear 30 seconds of in the game itself, so you don't get to experience this really cool music.
Next up is the Bonus Stage, and at the end, you fight against Marx, where the final battle in Kirby Super Star takes place in space, and you team up with Mario as a CPU Ally for that fight as well.
After defeating Marx, that is the route done, and the music that plays when you complete Classic Mode with Rosalina & Luma is Gusty Garden Galaxy, and you earn the Fighter Spirit for Rosalina, and Luma does have a separate Spirit as well.
